A great idea for a book, but there are so many confusing cross-references, I have to reread the instructions on how to use the book every time I pick it up. Situation A can lead to 5 or 6 cross references, all those have cross references another 5 or 6 times. Everything is numbered with sublettering and sub-sublettering that I find it hard to keep track of the ideas I want to remember. Though I have used the book to help with plots for my novel. Maybe the CD version would be easier to work with.
Plots Unlimited is a classic resource for writers. The trick is to use the story suggestions in Plots Unlimited as a starting point for your own imagination. For me, the book works best when I use my imagination to alter the literal situations in the book (e.g., a 'car' can become a spaceship, a married couple can be teenagers 'going steady', etc.) The story suggestions can be used for writing in any genre, because they each deal with basic human relationships. If you are a writer, Plots Unlimited is definately a good book to have on the shelf...
