Meet the Author

Paul Muldoon is the author of ten collections of poetry. He has won numerous awards including the 2003 Pulitzer Prize, the T. S. Eliot Prize (1994), an American Academy of Arts and Letters award in literature (1996), the Irish Times Poetry Prize (1997), the Griffin International Prize for Excellence in Poetry (2003), the American Ireland Fund Literary Award (2004), and the Shakespeare Prize (2004).
Muldoon received his education in Armagh, Ireland, and at the Queen's University of Belfast. In his early career (1973 to 1986), he worked in Belfast as a radio and television producer for the BBC. He taught at Cambridge University and was Professor of Poetry at the University of Oxford. He has lived in the United States since 1987, teaching at Columbia University, the University of California at Berkeley, and the University of Massachusetts. He is currently Howard G.B. Clark '21 Professor in the Humanities at Princeton University, and is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
