Looking to get lucky?
Stephanie Plum is back between-the-numbers and she’s looking to get lucky in an Atlantic City hotel room, in a Winnebago, and with a brown-eyed stud who has stolen her heart.
Stephanie Plum has a way of attracting danger, lunatics, oddballs, bad luck . . . and mystery men. And no one is more mysterious than the unmentionable Diesel. He’s back and hot on the trail of a little man in green pants who’s lost a giant bag of money. Problem is, the money isn’t exactly lost. Stephanie’s Grandma Mazur has found it, and like any good Jersey senior citizen, she’s hightailed it in a Winnebago to Atlantic City and hit the slots. With Lula and Connie in tow, Stephanie attempts to bring Grandma home, but the luck of the Irish is rubbing off on everyone: Lula’s found a job modeling plus-size lingerie. Connie’s found a guy. Diesel’s found Stephanie. And Stephanie has found herself in over her head with a caper involving thrice-stolen money, a racehorse, a car chase, and a bad case of hives.
Plum Lucky is an all-you-can-eat buffet of thrills, chills, shrimp cocktail, plus-size underwear, and scorching hot men. It’s a between-the-numbers treat no Evanovich fan will want to miss!
In bestseller Evanovich's breezy third holiday novella (after Plum Lovin'), Stephanie Plum's kooky Grandma Mazur finds a duffle full of money on the street and hightails it to Atlantic City. When Stephanie learns that the money was stolen from Delvina, a notorious Trenton mobster, she and her friend Lula head off in pursuit. In Atlantic City, the Jersey bounty hunter discovers she's not the only one after Grandma after meeting Snuggy, an ex-jockey who originally stole the money and is convinced he's a leprechaun. With her on-again off-again boyfriend Morelli tied up with a murder case and the sexy Ranger otherwise occupied, Stephanie turns to the mysterious Diesel for help. As she tries to keep Grandma safe and fend off the advances of Diesel amid the slot machines and craps tables, Stephanie realizes she may be in over her head. With her trademark wit, cast of eccentric side characters and hilariously absurd plot twists, Evanovich treats her fans to a delightful miniadventure sure to whet their appetites for the next full-length Plum escapade. Rather contrived and without the charm of the "numbers" books. Still, it is at times laugh-out-loud funny and is an enjoyable story.

I read this book because I always read Plum books. However, it was a struggle to finish, the plot was a little too ridiculous. Evanovich should stick to the number novels and not waste time writing quick reads like this.

Sometimes I just need to get away from all the stress of my life. Listening to Plum Lucky as I drove to and from work was like taking a little getaway in the middle of the work week. The plot was so creative, and the characters so quirky, that I did not want it to end. I had only two problems with the book. It was too short, and there was no mention of her pet hamster, Rex. I was worried that something had happened to him.

This book seemed almost like it was written by a scatterbrained, middle school aged cheerleader. I think this book (and the others like it) feel as if Evanovich is trying too hard at the "madcap-I-Love-Lucy" style of characterization of Stephanie Plum. In fact, having just finished "Finger Lickin' Fifteen", I fear that even her numbered series is headed the same way. Very formulaic and silly. It's a shame, too, because the numbered series was a great one, up until the last 2, maybe 3 books.

This was a ridiculous book. It was like reading a Mickey Spillane novel. I really disliked it. It was very easy reading though!

Evanovich has run out of fresh ideas for this series. How many times can you recycle exploding cars and animal humor. It is time to hang it up.

Can Janet write anything but the same old, same old? Grandma was the only refreshing character here in this lastest book. Otherwise, its pure formaula, uninspired writing. Good for mindless, predictable, minldy entertaining reading. Please Janet, let's move these characters to new adventures that don't involve cars being destroyed and typical mishaps with captures.

This book was not up to par with the others. It appeared to be written for a 12 year old. I wish I could get a refund.

Now we all know the 'between the series' books are short and don't neseccarily move the story along, but they have at least been somewhat entertaining. This one just seems to be a plot she has used before that she dropped a leprechaun into. I wanted to like it, I just couldn't. Very disappointing.

Jen is the one who actually got me into this series, but I can't really think of how we got on the subject since we read totally different books. This will be one of the few that we both read, but maybe we'll have to change that. Maybe do a book club type thing or something. Course if we did that it would probably have to be every few months because I know we both have so many of our own books to read.
Back to Plum Lucky. Stephanie Plum and friends are at it once again in this between the numbers book. It's just a quick teaser because Fearless Fourteen comes out June 17, 2008.
Grandma Mazur stumbles upon a duffel bag full of money, and goes to Atlantic City to gamble. She is followed by a short man wearing green (who wants to be a leprechaun) trying to steal the money from her. Stephanie must find her grandmother and save her from a toad like mobster. Connie, Lula, and Diesel are her co-conspirators in this crazy tale.
It's a quick read, some fluff to read in a day. Unfortunately Morelli and Ranger don't make appearances and Diesel is the one who really saves Stephanie this time. because we all know that she can't save herself. Never the less.

The book was not bad but these side stories seem to lack the excitmemt of her number novels. I could do without this supernatural she is throwing on the mix.

A little guy in green pants who thinks he is invisible. It is ridiculous and outrageous. I was laughing out loud in a hospital waiting room, which raised eyebrows until they saw the title of the book. By that afternoon, four of us were reading the series, and traded books the next day.
