This is a great book for anyone who wants to see what game wardens do to ensure our wild birds and animals are protected. I didn't know their job was so danerous that they carried guns. Poachers all have guns and the brave wardens have to protect themselves when they are on patrol. Reading this book was a good learning experience for me.

Poacher wars is a must read, outstanding outlook of what a game warden's job is all about. The dangers, and some of the people they come across every day. Having worked with Bill Wasserman for ten years out of my twenty-one years as a deputy (1976-1997), I have some good memories of our early years working together.

POACHER WARS is a concise, informative, and entertaining book revealing what a game warden is up against while doing his job. While reading this book, I learned of the diverse duties and perils a game warden faces, usually alone and at night. Not only did the author deal with sportsmen, but also with pseudo-sportsmen, many of whom where drug addicts, some with criminal records, and most of whom were carrying a loaded gun. Even though Bill Wasserman was assisted by a deputy force, many of these volunteers have regular jobs and are not always available, adding to the danger the job. POACHER WARS is a wonderful read and held my attention from cover to cover. It gave me a new appreciation for the men and women who protect our wildlife.

I had no idea that game wardens had the kind of investigative skills demonstrated by officer Wasserman. Crimes against wildlife can be more difficult to solve than crimes against humans. With wild animals, game wardens can't interview family & friends of the deceased to gather information that might lead to a suspect. Some of the crimes that officer Wasserman writes about were more difficult to solve than the murder of a human! The book was very enjoyable, and I highly recommend it!

Bill Wasserman was probably the most dedicated WCO 'Wildlife Conservation Officer' the PA Game Commission ever had as its employee for over thirty years. Poacher Wars, by WCO Wasserman, is a compelling work in law enforcement and wildlife conservation ... a remarkable book that you will remember for years to come.
