Description: This pocket-sized manual offers a wealth of information on assessment skills and techniques, organized by body system for quick referencing, with clear illustrations and many detailed color photos. Each section begins with an anatomy overview, followed by subjective and objective data sections. The book covers developmental variations, cultural aspects, and genetic components in each section. Normal and abnormal findings are arranged in a two-column layout for easy comparison. Each section ends with a sample documentation portion for the body system being reviewed. The previous edition was published in 2012.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide a comprehensive guide to physical assessment skills and techniques. Each section covers a different body system and is further divided into areas that use a systematic color coding layout to make review easy and content retrieval rapid.
Audience: This can be used by new or student nurses in clinical settings. It also can be used by experienced nurses in need of a quick reference to enhance already learned skills. Dr. Jarvis is well known in the nursing community and has made significant contributions, particularly with her books on health assessment.
