Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kasey Giard
All creatures on the planet are broken up into groups: kingdom, phylum, class, order, etc. In the Animal kingdom, the creatures can be broken into two groups: vertebrates and invertebrates. Each group contains many different types of animals who are classified by how their young are born, what they eat, where they live, among other things. With information about each classification of animals and a few brief facts about example species in each group, this book brings a large amount of information to young readers in an organized very clear format. Beautiful, detailed photographs show each animal described, making this volume fun to look at as well as fun to read. The last few pages feature a "Record Breakers" section which lists facts about the tallest, fastest, and heaviest animals, among others. A glossary of terms supports vocabulary development. This is a great book for young readers who love animals and exploring the world around them. Recommended. Reviewer: Kasey Giard
