Meet the Author

Chances are decent that if you bought weed in Amsterdam during the ‘90s or early-to-mid 2000s, I sold it to you. I have been around it all my life. For the last few years, I’ve brought my budtending craft to California, home of some of the greatest cannabis ever grown on this planet.
Friends call me “The Bud Doctor,” because when it comes to recommending the kind of weed you need, I know how to diagnose your circumstances and prescribe the right medication for the situation. Most people who come in to a dispensary to purchase cannabis only want to know a couple of things about the strains they’re interested in:
1. What are the effects?
2. Will it help me out with my ailments?
Over the course of my career as The Bud Doctor, I’ve kept notes in order to best recommend the best bud for you and your intentions. One of the great misconceptions of cannabis is that Indicas are all downers and Sativas are all uppers.
Not true.
In this day and age, there are more hybrids than you can count. Most of them do a few things well. Some do a number of things fantastically. I’ve seen people mistakenly buy the wrong weed because they wanted a focused, active buzz and mistakenly bought a strain that couch locked them into sleep because they didn’t ask me first.
What I’ve done is taken my well-worn journal of notes on all the different strains I’ve sold or smoked and boiled it down into thumbnail descriptions so that any layperson could quickly look up the best choice of meds for their lifestyle and circumstance.
These are my personal observations and classifications, I hope they are as helpful to you as they have been to the countless thousands of customers I have helped in my capacity as a budtender.
At the end of this book, I’ve placed the different strains into categories based upon the kind of treatment you need. Though I am not a real doctor, I want you to see how simple it is to find the right medication. As The Bud Doctor, all I ask is you use your meds responsibly and wisely.
