Editorial Reviews

Katy Killilea
Bart King is my new hero. On the surface, his books might look like they’re getting by on being similar to the ubiquitous Dangerous Book for Boys. King’s pocket guides—with illustrations of paper airplanes, Chuck Taylors, and a slingshot on their covers—do cash in on that kind of scrappy retro charm. But these books are something entirely different.

If these don’t seem gender-neutral enough, and you have a daughter who is into this kind of thing, rest assured that Bart King also has girl versions: The Big Book of Girl Stuff gracefully and barely touches on puberty, but includes plenty of pranks, code names, and hijinx for kids who like bright pink more than baseballs on the covers of their books.

Should someone you know be interested, visit the author’s web site: www.bartking.net. It includes video clips illustrating some of the guides’ proposed activities!

Annoying Boy Problems

Here are some other annoying problems that younger boys sometimes have. Annoying Problem: He picks his nose.

Is This Normal? Yes. Annoying Problem: He likes to give wedgies.

Why Does He Do This? Scientists have been studying Boys and the Mystery of the Wedgie for years, and they still have no idea why boys do this. It may be a way primitive people communicate with each other. No one knows for sure. What is certain is that you should keep an eye on any boy who likes to give wedgies.

    I Also Recommend:

Bad stuff + good stuff = ok

This book was such a let down in many many ways, yet it did have a few perks. I guess I could say the good things first. Such as that it held several funny quotes and coments from the author himself. This book also held things such as games that I myself would never have thought of. Some let downs of this book though were, the bad or ovious information. At most times they gave you silly responses for subjects such as relationships. They might have included a lot of pages on that but they defidently didn't explain the topic at all. Another bad thing was the lack of information I known that this was supposed to be the pocket guide but even pocket guides need info in them. That's why their called a guide! All in all this book ok. It wasn't the best, but it defidently wasn't the worse. So you should read it, but don't get your hopes up.

    I

I found this book helpful (i own it hardcover) because it doesn't just tell you 'these are some problems teens have' like most books do, this book isn't opinion based at all. It also has tests to see what friend you have, how well you know her, and it has types of girls and their descriptions. Plus, really hilarious illustrations
