    Helpful guide to Hawaii's birds

Pratt's compact volume provides a quick overview of Hawaii's birds, illustrated with color photographs. Birds are organized according to the types of environment in which they are most likely to be seen (e.g. dry forest, wet forest, wetlands), and by island. Both native and introduced species are included. The book provides sufficient information to identify many birds, but--given that it is a pocket guide, not an exhaustive summary--it does not contain much information on the biology and behavior of its subjects. The evolutionary speciation of Hawaii's birds is briefly summarized, but not thoroughly discussed.

    Easy to Use

I wanted a basic field guide in order to be able to ID birds on my upcoming trip to Hawai'i. Simple, easy to carry and clear "Hawai'i's Birds" should be just right.
