From The CriticsReviewer: Alicia Kaiser, BS,PT,OCS,SCS,FAAOMPT(Tristate Physical Therapy)
Description: This small pocket guide to musculoskeletal assessment is a unique reference that can be carried at all times. It includes brief chapters on certain respiratory, cardiac, amputee, and neurological evaluations.
Purpose: This is a practical guide that provides a framework, quick reference information on how to conduct special tests, treatment plans, and certain information on various diagnoses.
Audience: I feel that this book is addressed to physical therapy assistants and physical therapy students and new graduates; it would be extremely beneficial for students who are completing their affiliations in acute care and outpatient settings.
Features: This book is easy to use, as it fits in a lab jacket or can be hand held. The charts contained in each chapter and the appendix make information extremely easy to access and could help affiliates and clinicians to formulate a diagnosis quicker than if they had to search for this information in a number of various books.
Assessment: I feel that the author did a wonderful job compiling a lot of pertinent information in such a small pocket guide. It is one of a kind. I have not seen a book like this in my seven years of clinical experience. I feel that students could benefit from using this pocket guide on their affiliations.
