Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"The words for this 'pocket' thesaurus were pulled from Oxford's English Corpus, a unique electronic database that makes it possible to see exactly how English is developing. It allows Oxford University Press to create up-to-date resources that reflect how the English langauge is evolving, making them the most accurate language tools available. This thesaurus is ideal for individual use but would also be useful in school media centers and small libraries needing a basic and current thesaurus."—Shannon Graff Hysell, American Reference Books Annual

    Very "Reader Friendly"

I found this reference text easy to read and presented in a very clear, concise manner. The layout of the book is amazing because it will not only give you the grammatical information that you are looking for, but it will also put the word in a sentence for you. Right in the center of the book is a handy "word finder" chart with some key topices of frequently used words that are separated into categories. I have only had this book for a few weeks and I have used it almost every day. I went back to college after being away from it for over 20 years, and I find that if I had a reference guide such as this back then, I probably would not have struggled to find just the right word. You will defintely get use out of this book if you buy it today.

    Writer's Best Friend

As a writer of both fiction and non-fiction, a good thesaurus is essential. The Oxford series of dictionaries and thesauruses are part of my collection of dictionaries that I use frequently while I'm writing. Whether you are a letter writer, student or professional in business or academia, this book is a must for your collection.
