I really liked the stories in this one. I wish there was more, but they were all really good.

Some of these stories don' t have endings. Some don't go anywhere. And some should not have been written at all. Your'e gonna have to wade through to find the good ones. Yeah, they're in there.

This is many short horror beginnings. The stories needed more. I felt too much like I was left hanging just for ideas about what a horror story beginning is. They all sounded interesting but just not enough to work with or enjoy.

From the moment I first picked this up to read, I was hooked. Joseph's writing style is epic, to say the least. He has a command over the language that makes you want to dig deep into his work. My favorite story in the collection is a toss up between, 'Lust' and 'The Hanging Tree'. Both, fantastic stories, and both, had me guessing until the end. I can't wait to read more by this author. I know he has a long career ahead. Love the afterword-- You will, too!
