Poetry Tag Time is a great way to bring poetry and poets into the classroom. The collection is a buffet of children's poetry with a variety of styles and structures to please every taste. We are sharing this anthology in our second grade classroom as part our month-long poetry celebration. We could not get enough!
We are planning to stretch the poems over the next month. The "tag" concept was a hit. We loved reading how each author connected and drew inspiration from the previous poem. The playful commentary between the writers gives the feel of a game and invites the reader into the fun. A few aspiring poets even played poetry tag during recess!
In addition to the poetry, this "book" serves as a wonderful resource. Readers will meet some familiar friends and are bound to be introduced to a few new ones along the way. The collection concludes with a tidbit about the contributing poets as well as a link to their web pages. Teacher and class can continue the poetry journey by following their favorite authors.

Poetry Tag Time is a fun new way to introduce and involve children in poetry. I teach creative writing K-6th which involves not only writing but reading/exploring children's poetry and literature. Poetry Tag Time is a sure way to activate students' curiosity and expose them to poetry in a format that is familiar and accessible. I am a bit sad to find any good writing in technology form, rather than in a book - but I can't deny the value of this for my students.

Overview
PoetryTagTime is the first electronic-only poetry anthology of new poems by top poets for children (ages 0-8). This collection of 30 new, unpublished poems range from the humorous to serious, about tongues, turtles and toenails, in acrostics, quatrains, and free verse written by 30 of our best children's poets. And the “connections” between poems as the poets voice how their poems are interconnected in this game of poetry tag adds another layer of fun and meaning. You'll be able to share brand-new poems and poetry tips with children for pennies a day. Curriculum ideas for each poem at PoetryTagTime.blogspot.com.Get the 2nd book in the series, P*TAG, ...
