It figures that a film based on the No.1 kid craze of the year would boast a soundtrack that's pure kid-pop heaven. Pop POKÉMON: THE FIRST MOVIE into your car CD player (as you'll no doubt be doing whenever the children are riding along, for the next year or so) and you'd swear you were listening to the local R&B/dance/Top 40 radio station, only without the commercials and without the frequently objectionable content. The hottest of the hot are represented here, from Christina Aguilera (the ballad "We're a Miracle") to 98º to 'N Sync ("Somewhere Someday") to M2M ("Don't Say You Love Me.") The fact that most of them sound pretty interchangeable -- there's a preponderance of ballads and midtempo R&B struts -- is not going to matter one whit to your own Pokémon trainers. Still, there are a few standouts: B*Witched's "Get Happy" is peppy gal-pop set to a modified Bo Diddley beat; Emma "Baby Spice" Bunton gets sassy with "(Hey You) Free Up Your Mind";and Aaron Carter (baby brother to Backstreet Boys heartthrob Nick Carter, and a pinup boy for the elementary school set in his own right) gets down with "(Have Some) Fun with the Funk." Hardly any of this relates directly to Pokémon lore, except for a discofied "Pokémon Theme," by Billy Crawford. Oh yes -- there is "Lullaby," by Mandah, which includes a few snippets of the lovely but sleep-inducing "Song of Jigglypuff," which is straight from the TV show. The fact is your kids are gonna want it. Why fight it?

All Music Guide - Heather Phares
The soundtrack to Pokemon: The First Movie features lots of young pop acts like B*Witched, Billie, and Mandah. Billy Crawford performs the "Pokemon Theme," while teen queens Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera sing "Soda Pop" and "We're a Miracle," respectively. Baby Spice turns in a solo track, "Free Up Your Mind (Hey You)," and 98 Degrees contributes "Fly With Me." Songs from Aaron Carter, Vitamin C, and Angela complete the soundtrack to this kiddy blockbuster.

My favourite song was Billie's Makin' My Way (Any way that I can) and (Hey you) Free up your mind, by Emma Bunton. The others are semi-good. I don't really like Pokemon, but the album grew to me because my brother kept playing it over and over and over!

This CD has an excellent combination of music. From soft songs to hard rock, it's got everything a kid would want! (Plus the fact that it's Pokemon, the #1 kid's craze!) In the 3-4 weeks I've had the CD, I know most of the songs by heart! It's an excellent CD!

A great mix of music, but only 4 actual songs from the movie. But over all I liked it, and is a good album for my collection!

I love pokemon! I think that Mewtwo rules as the great clone pokemon but, when it comes to the true pokemon Mew is number one!

Yeah, the CD's okay, if you like teenybopper music. But the truth is, while the music's okay, precious few songs have any relation to the movie or Pokémon in general. The word ''Pokémon'' is mentioned in TWO tracks. Only three have an obvious connection. SEVEN are absolutely unrelated to the movie, no matter HOW far you stretch them. Three others are connected to the movie by only a thin thread of logic. So, bottom line, you'll enjoy this CD if you like pop music, but not if you're looking for something related to Pokémon.

This is the best CD of all time!!!! When I got the soundtrack, I was totally blown away by the music. It's wonderful!!! Words cannot express how good the CD is. Even if you don't like Pokemon, YOU WILL LOVE THIS CD!!!! I think it is better than any other Pokemon CD there is! I love the songs ''It Was You'', Don't Say You Love Me'' & ''If Only Tears Could Bring You Back''. My favorite song is ''Makin' My Way (Any Way That I Can)'' It talks about not giving up.And even if the river is too wide & the mountain is too high you can cross the river and climb the mountain, if you try. If kids are having trouble in school, they should listen to this song. If the tests are too hard, they can do it, if they try. Another song I love is ''If Only Tears Could Bring You Back''. When I first listened to it, it made me cry. It reminded me of my grandfather who died a few years ago. I wish tears could bring him back to me. No matter how old I get, I will always keep this soundtrack. I've said it before and I'll say it again, THIS IS A WONDERFUL CD. It will be a great thing you and your family will treasure.

I especially liked number 16 and the other numbers of this CD. The movie gets kind of gets boring some places (good for a first movie, though) and I found that the music is better! You won't be wasting your time getting this!
