Poland, 1946: The Photographs and Letters of John Vachon

by Ann Vachon (Editor), John Vachon

Editorial Reviews

Vachon, who had been part of the photographic team working for the Farm Security Administration in the 1930s, was sent to Poland in 1946 by the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration to document that agency's aid efforts. Despite their impressive content, most of the pictures he took in Poland were put away in archives without being published. They are presented here along with letters he wrote to his wife and an afterword by his daughter. No scholarly trappings. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
