Brianna couldn't escape. Jharm left her in the room all cold and alone. "Wait!" Brianna called before Jharm left her,"What do you want for anyway? The dragon jewel? We'll it's useless." Jharm turned around and looked at her saying,"I want the wizard boy." "How do you still live?" She asked. "Oh, don't worry, he's not the only one living. A person who was short and and curly hair and a green cloak...Nojay! How could this be? "Holik brought us back with magic after the crash at the inn," answered Nojay, smiling," Holik was betraying you all this time." Brianna had jumbled thoughts all in her head. How could this be? "Where's Merceed?" Brianna asked. Jharm snorted,"He's dead." Then they started laughing and went through the door that led out of the dungeon. She knew they were lying about this! "Brianna...Brianna, anyone! Please help...They blinded me!" A voice called from the left side of the stone wall. Brianna put her ear to the wall,"Merceed? Is that you?" "Brianna? Are you there? What's happening? Where am I?" Merceed questioned. "First tell me how you found me and saved me from Holik on those plains," Brianna said. "I...I don't know!" Merceed weeped,"Nojay took my sight and strength away once we got here and I can't remember anything except voices and names!" "Calm down! Can you tell me at least what happened to your men?"Brianna inquired."What men? I'm sorry Brianna, but I can't remember anything," he sadly replied. "Come on! You have to remember something at least about the battle!" "What battle? I don't recall any battle! See?" Merceed started crying again. Brianna was frustrated. How could she get Merceed to trigger one memory into a whole bunch? How would they get out of here? What was happening to Mantala and Burgode, Dion, who was injured, and Ezumalid, Methaldane, and Rushai? "Okay, Merceed, do you at LEAST remember last night?" Brianna asked. "Yes...I was being dragged away...my wound...now I remember! Yes, I found you...oh, I forget again," Merceed sounded as if he were really trying. "Think, Merceed! We might find Ezumalid, Rushai, Methaldane, and your army if-" "Yes! I do remember! My army had vanished like out of thin air! I do remember one thing! A hooded man, mounted on Burgode was chasing after me, but I managed to escape under some tall ferns and into the forest. As I was traveling deeper across the plains, I found you and luckily saved you!" The hooded man must be Holik! Holik was one of the Three Sermins! He had forced Burgode to be mounted from him and had used him."That means one of the Sermins are dead!" Brianna proclaimed joyfully. "No, Brianna. You are wrong. They must be killed by an immortal blade. It must be made from 8 different treasures. Wait, wasn't the dragon's one of the ones? Maybe Burgode had the fake jewel! There could be a real jewel-but where is it?" Merceed was putting the puzzle pieces together! If only they could find the real jewel! "So you got blinded?" Brianna hoped Merceed was overreacting. "Yes, I'm really sorry Brianna. I have let my daughter Rushai and you down," he replied,"I hope we find Rushai." "I 'hope' too," Brianna said. "We have to find the dragonsus tribe. I hope they're not disappointed since we didn't go to their place first for the war," he said. Brianna knew. They had to find Zerfa, the leader of the dragons.
