Police Sergeant Exam: A Step-by-Step System for Preparing for Your Promotion Exam

I HAVE RECENTLY SPOKE TO A FRIEND THAT RECOMMENDED THIS TEXT. IT IS EVERYTHING HE SAID AND MORE. THE SECTION ON SEARCH AND SEIZURE AND CONSTITUTIONAL LAW IS FANTASTIC. NONE OF THE OTHERS HAVE A SECTION LIKE THAT AND IT IS SO HEAVY A SUBJECT ON EXAMINATIONS FOR ALL SUPERIOR OFFICERS RANKS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TEXT.

    Who writes this stuff?

This book was full of poorly written questions and no study guides. The preparation for the oral boards could have been a lot better. If you can only buy one exam book, it should not be this one.

Police Sergeant Exam: A Step-by-Step System for Preparing for Your Promotion Exam

This book had one of the best search and seizure sections of all the others. I recommend it.

Police Sergeant Exam: A Step-by-Step System for Preparing for Your Promotion Exam

I too must respond in defense of 'Police Sergeant Exam' by Learning Express. And I too think there is an ulterior motive for rating this text as poor. I could possibly see someone giving a rating of less than outstanding but never poor. That in itself has led me to believe that the rating given by the person of May 10th was designed by jealousy. Do as I have done....go to Barnes & Noble Stores and compare them before you buy. You will see that the Barron Publication is nothing more than excerpts from other texts such as Supervision of Police Personnel, by N.F. Iannone. I can buy that book and read it. Also, and this is very important, the Learning Express Publication is the ONLY book that has an EXCELLENT section on 'criminal procedure and constitutional law.' This section in the book, 'Police Sergeant Practice Exam #1,' was the greatest help to my son who just passed number one on his sergeant's exam. The explanations on criminal law are excellent and nonexistent in the other texts......but don't take my word for it, see for yourself. This was the third attempt for my son to exam for the rank of sergeant with two priors having negative results. This time, lessons he received from 'Police Sergeant Exam' by Learning Express in the field of criminal procedure, we think, put him over the edge. This is the reason we must respond with gratefull acknowledgment, thanks Learning Express.

Police Sergeant Exam: A Step-by-Step System for Preparing for Your Promotion Exam

I do not usually respond to these types of forums, however after reading that review of May 10, by the person who would not give his/her identity, it provided me the impetus to do so. In my opinion,it has to be evident that this person is employed by Cliff's and/or Barrons publications. In my opinion Barrons or Cliff's can't hold a candle to the Learning Express publication (Police Sergeant Exam). I am a retired police chief and teacher of police officers and I have examined all of the study guides on the market and I have chosen the Learning Express publication over all the others. That person's review of this publication as 'poor' has to be 'sour grapes.'

This text is a must !!!!

I have recently studied for an up-coming sergeant's examine and found your publication a great aid. The book 'Police Sergeant's Exam' covers it all. Not only are the questions designed in good fashion, but the comments are extremely informative. It was like studying a text and questions and answers study guide combined in one book. Thanks much.
