Meet the Author

Henning Melber is Executive Director of the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation. He was Research Director of the Nordic Africa Institute and co-ordinator of the project “Liberation and Democracy in Southern Africa” (2000–2006) and Director of the Namibian Economic Policy Research Unit (NEPRU) in Windhoek (1992–2000).

Karolina Hulterström is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Political Science of Uppsala University and a member of the research project “Democracy and the Rule of Law in East Africa”.

Amin Y. Kamete has since 2003 been the co-ordinator of the Research Program “Gender and Age in African Cities” at the Nordic Africa Institute. He had previously been a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Urban Planning at the University of Zimbabwe in Harare.
