More About This Book

Overview

Get ready for a rousing rebel yell as best-selling author H. W. Crocker, III, charges through bunkers and battlefields in The Politically Incorrect GuideTM to the Civil War. Crocker busts myths and shatters stereotypes as he profiles eminent and colorful military generals, revealing little-known truths, like why Robert E. Lee had a higher regard for African-Americans than Lincoln did. Crocker culminates his tome in the most politically-incorrect chapter of all: “What If the South Had Won.” This is the "P.I.” Guide that every Civil War buff and Southern partisan will want on their bookshelf, in their classroom, and under their Christmas tree.

    Changed my mind...

I decided to pick this book up to hear some alternative histories of the Civil War other than what I had been told. Growing up in Buffalo, NY I learned that Confederate States were racist, hateful, bigoted, and full of uneducated people. What this book suggests is the total opposite, and it is quite well cited. This book does bring up some points that are totally logical and well backed up through historical records.
The author is certainly biased to the South, and it is very transparent.

I enjoyed this book immensely, it has changed my view on the Civil War. If you want to be able to have an enlightened and balanced conversation on the this subject, reading this book should be considered a necessity.

Excellent book about the events leading up to the civil war and the war itself.

Very good reading about the events leading up to the civil war and very good chapters on the important/generals people involved in the war. Covered many things that was not addressed in history books and provided excellent insight into the era and the people.

    biased

This is the most biased, historically incorrect, self serving book I have read about the Civil War. For example, the author states that the first slaves were owned in a Northern State and then goes on to give Virginia as his example. He states that the characters in "Gone with the Wind" were exact replicas of the best of the confederacy. If this is history, it is history from a time, place, and planet which is not our own. McPherson he is not.
