Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Maria E. Gentle
The traditional Chicken Little fairy tale is retold accompanied by bold, bright, and, dare I say, cute illustrations. When an acorn hits Pollita Peque¤ita on the head she surmises that the sky is falling and decides to take it upon herself to go tell the king. Along the way she meets Gina Gallina who asks Pollita Peque¤ita where she is going in such a hurry. Later on, Pollita Peque¤ita meets Goyo Gallo, Petra Pata, Gonzo Ganso, Pablo Pava, and Zoilo Zorro. The sly fox offers to show the group an alternate road to go see the king. The gullible group takes him up on the offer, and, well you know the rest of the story. This is a simple yet wonderful retelling of the traditional story. The alliterative Spanish is a pleasure to sound out. Children, in a group, in one-on-one settings, or on their own, will enjoy this book. It is definitely one that will be read more than once. The spread of the animals' backsides as they are going down the road is plain yet humorous. The same can be said of the other spread where the group is anxiously telling Fox of their mission. A little gem to be enjoyed for a long time by all ages.
