Overview

This combined edition includes Eleanor Hodgman Porter's POLLYANNA and its sequel, POLLYANNA GROWS UP. The novels follow the life of Pollyanna Whittier, a young orphan who goes to Vermont to live with her curmudgeonly wealthy aunt Polly. Young Pollyanna strives to be cheerful in every situation, eventually transforming it into the "glad game" which she convinces more of the townsfolk to play. After becoming injured and losing the ability to walk, the townsfolk convince Pollyanna to continue to be glad in the face of adversity. In POLLYANNA GROWS UP, Pollyanna (now cured of her paralysis) and Aunt Polly continue to face adversity as hard times set in. Includes an active table of contents.
