Optimism often fades to cynicism as children mature into adults. When we last saw Pollyanna, in an eponymous book, she had become paralyzed after a nasty fall and it looked like she could very likely grow bitter under the circumstances. In Pollyanna Grows Up even the healing of her crippled legs and opportunity to travel to Europe don't guarantee happiness.

This is 'Clean' reading! It would be very girl for Young Adults to read. It was a fun story but it skipped six years of Polyanna growing up!! Ms Porter delved into detail Polyanna's thirteenth year but other than stating she went to Europe for six years then returned to her home town. Granted, this would have been a very large book but, even better, it could have easily been made into two or more books, such as Anne of Green Gables. It was a delightful reminder of the much beloved story of "Pollyanna."

I've always loved this story but this particular free ebook has the usual scanning errors. Pollyanna is usually "PoUyanna" and so on. But you can read it fairly easily regardless. Still, I like the story enough I will probably invest in a good copy.

I am about half way through the book and so far it turning out to be a pretty good. So far Pollyanna has just gotten back from spending a winter with Mrs. Carew. Write more after I finish this book.
