Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Kona the pony has his birthday today, but the other ponies and even cowboy Mick do not notice. After riding in the truck and working on the trails with no one wishing him a happy birthday, Kona hangs his head thinking everyone has forgotten. However on the truck ride home, the truck does not stop at the barn. It keeps going to the ocean park. There cowboy Mick and the other ponies surprise Kona with a birthday picnic, music on the ukulele, and swimming. Bright colorful illustrations and predictable text make this book a good choice for beginning readers. This is part of the "Read it! Readers" series. 2006, Picture Window Books, Ages 4 to 9.
