Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Ellen R. Butts
Everyone likes ponies: they're cute, usually friendly and just the right size for young riders. Informally written, illustrated with line drawings, this pocket-sized book is also cute and user-friendly. It contains a lot of information about the care and feeding of ponies, as well as insight into their behavior. A rider's body language, for example, is very important and can make a pony insecure or confident. Ponies are ticklish, can be moody, and respond best to soft voices. They love company. This charming little book should appeal to both boys and girls, but seems to be directed at a female audience. Although its text refers to male and female ponies, its illustrations depict girls only. Despite this bias, it would be a good addition to a child's personal library as its modest appearance and diminutive size belie its informative contents.
