Popcorn- A great "I Can Read" book

I read this book to my children (now 29 and 33 years old) when they were preschoolers. It was one of the first books they could read independently. At first they would ask me to read it to them over and over. After a while they could read the book along with me. We would laugh when reading about the popcorn spilling out all over the house. We would talk about the different costumes and which ones were their favorite. Then, I would always hesitate before reading the last page. They would look up at me with a smile and knowing anticipation before we would shout out together, "Popcorn". As they grew older they would read this book to their little cousins and friends. It became a family tradition.
My children now have babies of their own and I thought it would be fun to buy this book again so we can carry on this tradition. I look forward to sharing this book with my grandchildren and seeing their little eyes light up before shouting, "Popcorn". Keeping traditions such as these alive is a great way for families to connect.

I LOVED this book as a child

This was my favorite book when I was a small child. I made my parents read it to me every night for almost 2 yrs. Even though I could recite it forwards and backwards I still loved reading.

    Great Halloween Tale

I remember very clearly finding this book on the shelf at my dentist's office as a child. Stashed among 30 or 40 other childrens titles, for some reason I always came back to Popcorn everytime I waited to have my teeth cleaned. In retrospect, it's a simple, cute, and colorful story about a Halloween gathering that gets a little out of hand when Bear invites all of his friends and each arrive with the same party snack. It's a fun read and wonderfully illustrated. It has stayed with me all of my 32 years, so it might grab your child's attention as well.

    Popcorn a favorite of pre-schoolers

My 3.5 year old son "took" this book from his preschool classroom and didn't want to return it. After reading it repeatedly I broke down and bought it. My son's initial attraction to the book was that it has pictures with a full moon (he is obsessed with the moon), but he loves the story too. It is a fun short story about a bear who hosts a Halloween party while his parents are away. All of his guests end up bringing popcorn to the party, and once they pop it all, the house is overfilled. Eventually the host and his guests eat their way out, but end up with horrible tummy aches! Very funny and entertaining. Also, great for the budding humor in the 3-year-old, who begins to appreciate the funny ending (that upon returning for the evening, his parents bring him popcorn from their party).

    Enjoyed as a kid

My brother and I really enjoyed this book when we were little. Now that we both have kids we want this book to read to our kids. It was the one story that we remembered reading when we were little.
