Popstars

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Tracy E. Hopkins
Unlike their boy-band counterpart O-Town -- established by ABC's Making the Band -- the five ladies of Eden's Crush from the WB's Pop Stars have the vocal chops to back up the hype. Chosen from thousands of hopefuls nationwide, Eden's Crush sound surprisingly like seasoned veterans on their debut disc, also entitled Pop Stars. Fans of the weekly series will already be familiar with several songs, including the show's sassy theme song "Get Over Yourself," the seductive mid-tempo track "You Can I Can," and the power ballad "Love This Way." Other potential chart-toppers are the hip-hop-tinged "No Drama," the rock-guitar-fueled "I Wanna Be Free," and the loop-happy, ...

Other potential chart-toppers are the hip-hop-tinged "No Drama," the rock-guitar-fueled "I Wanna Be Free," and the loop-happy, Britney Spears-esque "Two Way." The multicultural beauties only miss a beat with their de-funked cover of Shelia E.'s "Glamorous Life." Fitting in nicely somewhere between TLC and Destiny's Child, Eden's Crush are definitely a girl group to watch.
All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Eden's Crush were designed to play the role of disposable pop stars, a prefabricated collection of attractive female entertainers who would star on the WB's TV show Popstars, while promoting a record of the same name. This they can do, and they do it reasonably well -- they sing, dance, and display some charisma and talent. But -- and maybe this shouldn't come as a surprise -- it sounds like a television show, not pop music. A pretty good approximation of pop music at times, whether it's on ballads like "Love This Way" or standard-issue dance-pop like "What's Good 4 the Goose" or "Get Over Yourself," but the girls either don't have or aren't allowed to display charisma as strong as Britney or Christina, or even 3LW. This hardly means it's a terrible album, but it's hardly a memorable one; it, like the show, will be best remembered as an artifact from the teen-tastic early years of the new millennium.

Cory, a 12 year old musichead from the dairy state

I think this album is totally awesome. They have melody and rythm. Their songs are well sung and coolly played. I listen to it all the time.

No doubt, this is the album of the year.

Five incredibly beautiful women with solid vocals, fused together with one of the best producers ever in David Foster. ''Eden's Crush'' will bring their exciting style and crush grooves to the music industry as no one has ever seen. Ivette, Nicole, Ana Maria, Maile, and Rosanna are the biggest hit since ''Envogue''. Their style and volcals stand alone, which is one thing I love about the group, originality.

    Popstars Review

After watching them grow up for twelve straight Friday nights and experiencing first hand all their ups and downs the much-anticipated first CD from the group Eden¿s Crush properly entitled Popstars has been released. With Popstars, this phenomenal new female group has provided the music industry with a new brand of pop music that will redefine music for the 21st century. The album features all five girls Ana Maria Lombo, Ivette Sosa, Maile Misajon, Nicole Scherzinger and Rosanna Tavarez in lead vocal roles, which helps to create this new brand of music. Three of the girls come from a Latino background and the group utilizes that diversity to integrate Spanish into many of their songs. The tracks ¿Let Me Know¿, ¿1000 Words¿, ¿Two Way¿ and ¿It Wasn¿t Me¿ all have both English and Spanish in the lyrics which is just one of the many surprising delights of the album. This album truly has something for everyone. For those who enjoy classic pop music there is the smash debut single ¿Get Over Yourself¿ which is soaring up the charts. Also, for those hopeless romantics out there like myself there are two great love songs in ¿Promise Me¿ and ¿Love This Way¿ which has the potential to be the girls next smash hit. Overall, the entire album is wonderfully produced and it is evident through listening to their songs that the girls have great chemistry together, which helps to create songs that evoke every type of emotion in you from laughter to tears. All age groups will love this CD and I highly recommend that you pick it up today!

The Best Album Of All Time!!!!

The Eden's Crush album entitled, ''Popstars'' is the best in the world! This stimulating musical experience takes-off with an up-tempo beat song entitled, ''What's Good For The Goose.'' The next song, entitled, ''If You Don't Love Me (Let Me Know)'' is a funky, but melodic-type song with great lyrics and great harmonies! After that, the CD takes you to a song that everybody should know, ''Get Over Yourself.'' The next song, ''Anywhere But Here'' starts out slow for the first minute, but then reveals its up-beat structure. The next song on the album, entitled, ''Love This Way'' is a sweet, sad ballad that is very harmonic. The next song, ''No Drama'', totally contrasts that, consisting of hard, funky beats. The song talks about having no drama in your life, and living life stress-free(a very good song to get your spirits up)! The next song, ''I Wanna Be Free'' is sort-of similar to ''No Drama'' as far as beats, but talks about being free from someone's hurtful love. The song after that is a 1980's remake of Sheila E's ''Glamorous Life'', talking about a girl who wants to lead a glamorous life, but really needs a man in her life. That song is followed by a Spanish-style song, ''One Thousand Words/Mil Palabras.'' It takes on a sweet, magical journey of unbelievably high notes-sung by Nicole-and great harmonies. The next song starts-out with Spanish talking, then goes into the lightest pop song on the album, ''Two Way.'' The song following that is similar to 98 Degrees' ''Una Noche'' with Spanish-type beats and lyrics. The next song on the CD is one of the best, ''You Know I Can.'' It is talking about someone helping someone get over a break-up. The final song on the album, ''Promise Me'', is a ''hidden track.'' On the back of the CD, it doesn't list, it doesn't in the inside, either! Weird! It is a very good song, and even better ballad than ''Love This Way.'' Well, all-in-all it's the best!!!!!
