This is the building block to return our nation and its culture to higher ground. Tolerance does not mean anything goes and Shapiro is gifted and astute in his observations about the need to 'recall' our errant ways of life that are destroying moral fiber it takes to maintain Democracy.

Intelligent, Witty, Insightful. Maybe a little to truthful for most. Anne Coulter should not be a related title to this book she is a moron.

As 2005 races to a close, I think most would agree with a premise of this book: pornogrpahy IS pervasive. It's easily found on the Internet, at local video stores, and even advertized and solicited in newspapers and men's and women's magazines. It's a sad commentary that Ameican society has grown increasingly accepting of this state of affairs, because pornography IS destructive --- presenting a warped image of sex and self-gratification that belittles the values of faith and family, and undercuts the marriage relationship. You guys out there who are into this stuff daily but excuse your habit by saying it's not addictive, conduct a simple experiment. Just try to stop for one week --- or even a few days. You'll soon understand that you're in the grip of a serious vice. I do NOT agree with American feminists who say that women are the ONLY victims of pornography. They are not. Nor are they even its primary victims. MEN are. The men who are hooked on the stuff to the point where they spend hours daily in front of computer screens or watching a porn video, or even slipping away from work to catch the latest flick at the porn movie house, to the detriment of time spent talking with their wives and interacting with and teaching their children in other words, impeding their ability to be leaders of their families and pilars of strength for their wives and kids. Ben Shapiro, a young orthodox Jew, a syndicated columnist and former Harvard Law School student, attempts to explain why pornography is so destructive, However, his belief that HIS generation is the ONLY generation to become hooked on porn is not broad enough. Many men and women in the previous generation, believing that titillating material was harmless, became hooked also. I DO agree that the Baby Boomer's liberal attitude toward sex has caused a large part of this problem. Also a cause is organized crime's control of prostitution, strip-joints and other porn outlets to a large extent. Hypersexualization of Americans is a big business. There's money in it and they have capitalized on it. No pun intended. But with the decline of societal standards and traditional values generally, sexual deviancy and pornography have invaded the public square, and we are all paying a price, not just members of Ben Shapir's generation. Very disturbing is the fact that legalized and all-pervasive porn is neither trivial nor marginal. It could easily be argued that it's part of a program by the forces of relativism, radical feminism, and nihilism to destroy America's moral foundation and replace moral values and standards with the concept of 'personal fulfillment.' That is what is killing us, corrupting our youth, fragmenting families, weakening society. Believing, for example, that it's not right that children should be exposed to the garbage called 'pop culture' which Shapiro claims will cause our culture to continue its deteriorating slide, he offers solid recommendations for how we can combat this horrendous trend. The book is interesting, educational and helpful a great read.
