Meet the Author

After 20 years in the corporate world and 25 more in the classroom, I retired from public life. I've set aside writing education curriculum and newspaper feature stories and have begun editing the stacks of drafts composed through the years. There was previously little time to follow through and market the manuscripts over and again. Once I had time on my hands, there were no excuses to not follow my life-long dream of becoming a published author. E-book publishing has made that possible.

Personally, I am a widow of many years and have been blessed with two children, grown and gone, and two grandchildren who will soon be fully grown. Although there have been other states of residence, I am a native Texan and have always returned to my roots. Travels include most of the U.S., Mexico, Hawaii, The Bahamas, England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, where I envisioned my first historical romance novel, Shadows o'er Killarney.

I hope you enjoy my work. If so, please take a moment to pen a review on my book's page. It would be appreciated. For any comments, you may contact me on the links provided. I appreciate your taking the time to visit my pages. Hope to see you again soon.

This book is very simplistic but leaves a lot of questions unanswered and expects the reader to make quite a leap to think noone would report a missing person on the heroine. It bothered me that a 17th century doctor made a diagnosis of infection when it wasn't until the late 19th century that the development of germ theory was made by Louis Pasteur. The dialogue of the Scottish character was not decipherable at times. All the "Ah"'s for "I"s and so forth made him seem to have the mentality of a child. Some dialect is fine, but not when you have to stop & spend time trying to figure out what he's saying. Other things didn't seem to fit what I have read about this time period. I didn't think that bath houses were the norm in the late 1600's, rather that if one immersed themselves in water frequently they ran the chance of getting sick. One thing I did like was that the author didn't use soft porn in her novel as some authors do. All things considered, Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series is a better read, at least the first 3 books.

I've tried rating this several times and the rating system does not seem to take hold thru B&N. I recommend this as good historical read. It's rather light on the romance, but good just the same. I give it 4 stars.
