Overview

For 40 years, the truth about the exorcism of 14-year-old Robbie Mannheim remained a mystery. Then a priest's diary, hidden in a locked room in the mental ward of a St. Louis hospital, came to light -- a diary written by one of the Jesuit priests who witnessed the bizarre and harrowing events firsthand.

Over the period of several terrifying months, the Mannheim family was caught in a titanic struggle while physicians, psychiatrists, and clergy fought for the soul of their child against a power that identified itself with Satan. In POSSESSED, acclaimed author and journalist Thomas B. Allen reveals what he found in the priest's diary as well as his interviews with witnesses to the exorcism of Robbie Mannheim. The evidence Allen uncovered in his investigations is so shocking, so chilling and so totally credible, it will challenge everything you believe -- or don't believe -- about the forces of good and evil.

    Ignore the critics

There are few people who have belittled this book because the author did not wish to answer some personal questions about Robby. This book is good in showing that the few Roman Catholic priests who are actual regular exorcists are the priests who seem best in their success in expelling the devil. The first exorcism attempt by an ill-prepared priest in this book ends badly.

'Call me Legion, for we are many'

Fast paced entertaining story. A little bit hard to believe, but a good book to read late at night.

    the movie 'Exorcist'

My pastor told us that this is the book/story that the 'Exorcist' was based on. The idenity of the boy was changed to a girl for his protection. I am wanting to read it. I haven't yet. My pastor has seen demons before. I believe in the spiritual realm. I will write a review after i read i

    Excellent!

I read this book a few years ago, and it was very exciting and scary. Being a native St. Louisan, it was very interesting to know the places that were discussed in the book. It was also intriguing to read the actual story versus the 'urban legend'.

    I read this years ago

This is the exorcism of Roby. I read it years ago, and it far surpassed the movie version. Very strong stuff for the reader, but a book well worth reading!!!
