The Power Foods Cookbook is the only cookbook that concentrates on developing a persons mind as well as healthy lifestyle! It is amazing how a book of this magnitude and information had not been written yet and is a must-have!)

An all-natural guide to strengthening the mind and body, this cookbook provides convincing scientific evidence to support its healthy eating philosophy. Identifying the “power foods” that optimize brain function and toxins that damage it, the author lays bare the simple truths of natural nutrition. Straightforward recipes for vegans and meat-eaters alike are detailed, including an antioxidant-rich chocolate gelato, making this guide a versatile and welcome addition to the collection.

The recipes in Power Foods are specifically supposed to help support brain function, like memory and the ability to retain new information. It lists what sort of food, and even cookware, to seek out and what to avoid. The recipes aren’t time-consuming, and those that might be can be shortened pretty easily.

The book presents a thoughtful rendition of the science behind power food, while also providing the reader with an alternative to a diet heavily dependent on processed foods. You do not have to give up on flavor to eat a more brain-friendly diet.

A flavorful variety of meals are covered in this amazing cookbook, and so far all of the recipes I’ve tried have come out wonderfully. This book provides valuable knowledge about which nutrients are necessary for the brain to work at its best. One thing that I have to say, though, is that while these dishes may provide valuable nutrients, I don’t think that they’re quite the cure-alls that the introduction implied. They’re tasty and healthy, but they aren’t medicinal.

Power Foods Cookbook is a great reminder of how food not only affects how we feel physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. Tasty alternatives to high sugar and processed food are abound in the book, including deserts. The old adage you are what you eat is also about the way food affects are brains and cognitive abilities.

Are the body and mind not one? Old theories used to differentiate the two, but modern science knows better. It is only through achieving a healthy body that we can achieve a healthy mind, free of depression and diseases that plague our modern world so. And that’s exactly what the Power Foods Cookbook is here to help you do. It’s here to help you get your mind right by eating right. And I think it does pretty well.

I really enjoyed this cookbook. It has easy to follow recipes and tons of great ideas about what to eat in a healthy diet. It also goes further to give suggestions on recipes for each meal for each day especially if you are transitioning to a healthy lifestyle. Great book!

The Power Foods Cookbook sounds like a great idea but doesn’t really come though. Its theory demonstrates that it doesn’t understand fats, by lumping together saturated animal fats with vegetable-based hydrogenated and trans fats, assuming they behave similarly in the body, however, animal fats have been shown to nourish the brain, while vegetable fats have been shown to deteriorate overall health. I disagreed with the conclusion that a vegan diet is the healthiest to pursue, and disliked the reliance on smoothies for some meals. Read Nourishing Traditions instead.

This cookbook was both extremely informative and I started to feel results almost instantaneously! I know, like everyone, when you eat a sugary snack you feel less buoyant perhaps than say, celery and natural peanut butter, but the research the book provides in the form of proven studies really drove it home. The significance of the presence of certain minerals was also made very clear, like how to incorporate Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamins E and B-12, while avoiding excess Copper and other metals. In all, I was so happy to have been recommended this book by a friend, so now I'm paying it forward!

This book offers an introduction to the concept of brain-healthy “power” foods, followed by a series of recipes to get you through a day of power eating.  A seven-day diet to get you started on your way is also included.  The theoretical chapters read easily, and some might find them convincing.  The recipes which follow, while not particularly original or appealing, are at least all very simple to prepare.  A novice cook committed to this style of eating might find the book useful.

I knew that food could make your body healthier, but I guess I never realized how much it could improve your mind, too. The tips in this book make it really easy to learn just whats foods you should be eating and the ones that you should avoid, and it's all backed up with cutting edge research. A must- buy if you feel like you're not as sharp as you could be.

This book is chock full of information to give the reader a better understanding of power foods. The great benefits that these types of foods have on brain function, memory retention and the help they often provide in minimizing disease and poor health choices.  There is a very helpful meal plan, complete with recipes, to help guide you through your 7-day move from bad food to power food! A great read for those interested in a healthier diet & lifestyle.

This cookbook does a great job at explaining what a “power” food is and how it can improve your brain health, such as your memory and your mood. It goes into detail about which foods you should eat and what brain healthy nutrients they provide. A few recipes I think my 3-year old will even eat, such as the Berrylicious Breakfast Salad. I’ll be glad to add some “power” foods to our diet to improve her brain function as well.

"Eat more protein for your brain!" Is what my doctor once told me during one of my final semesters in undergrad after having many weeks featuring back to back headaches.  Ever since then, I have tried to make sure I'm eating foods that my brain can benefit from.  This book is like having my doctor on hand.  I can look through it to find out not only what proteins and omega-3's I can eat but also a grab bag of recipes! I will definitely be recommending this book to friends and family. A great buy!

Rosemary Lentil Soup? Pasta with Mushroom-Garlic Sauce? No, I’m not talking about a gourmet cookbook. This is the Power Foods Cookbook which is filled with delicious, fancy-tasting recipes that are good for the brain. I have several cookbooks that seem redundant with their health information but this one is geared toward improving brain activity with food which is what I'm interested in.  It is definitely a detailed, informative, scrumptious buy!

The Power Foods Cookbook is full of helpful information on why eating clean is beneficial. All of the toxins we put into our bodies from processed foods wreak havoc on the functionality of our brains. The recipes in this book help fill our bodies with the nutrients it needs for our brains to function at its optimal ability.

This book is a fantastic addition to my healthy eating library.  The recipes are different and creative but still easy to prepare.  The science behind the way we should eat for a healthy brain and therefore mind is presented in an easy to understand way. It really gives you a clear understanding of how nutrients affect brain function and then guides you into easing into a transition away from harmful substances and into including the things that are best for your brain and your body.

This book is a kick-starter to feeling more alive both mentally and physically.  It offers a comprehensive view of the foods to eat, and the foods not to eat, to restore and keep an active brain and body.  It also provides meal plans and great recipes.  I loved the Balsamic Strawberries.

The Power Foods Cookbook is an excellent option for those looking to attain a full grasp on what foods are good for powering the brain, and why the brain needs them. The beginning portion of the book does a great job simplifying information on vitamins, proteins, metals, etc. while the second portion of the book focuses strictly on recipes. To tie everything together, each recipe also includes what benefits the ingredients can provide.

Everyone knows that they should eat better. The information is everywhere, even when you’re trying to avoid it. What perhaps not everyone is aware of though are the compelling reasons why. This book gives some really great information about how good foods (in this case Power Foods) contribute not just to overall health but the functioning of your brain. Despite the information I’ve read about digestive health and refined sugar being the devil, I had no idea that there were foods you could eat to either prevent mental illness or manage it. As a social worker, I found that information really helpful for passing on to my clients and of course, I will be doing my best to implement some changes for myself as well.
