A GREAT read and very insightful into all types of relationships/partnerships

Although this book speaks about partnerships mainly in business relationships much of it applies to relationships and partnerships outside of business as well. A VERY well written book with applications way beyond just the office. Many of these points will help me become a better teacher/life coach/partner/mentor/parent. I am so excited about what I learned in this amazingly well written book.

This is my new favorite business book (and it applies outside of business too)

I have always felt that the most powerful force to drive success in a company is strong partnerships between people who are moving in the same direction. Power of 2 explains, with indisputable research coupled with compelling real-life examples, that this is indeed true and under what conditions it occurs (or doesn't). The topic has great significance, but the book is a very enjoyable and accessible read. I read it cover to cover on a single cross-country flight and by the end had several ideas for how I could use the book as a tool to strengthen my own company's management team. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to help him/herself or others to have a truly strong and successful partnership with another person.

    WOW!

Being married for over nineteen years, having worked in corporate America for over twenty years, and, now, making a career change to become a veterinarian, I have found this book, Power of 2, to be incredibly enjoyable!

There is not one aspect of life that Rodd Wagner hasn't touched with his insights on the significance of collaboration, including how the technology that today, more than ever, tends to keep us isolated. Regardless of your walk in life people need one another and we are truly fulfilled when we find those partnerships that make both parties not just better but their best!

Having recently read "12 the Element of Great Managing," also by Rodd Wagner, I think that with these two books anyone will find nuggets that they can and, more importantly, will apply to their lives - both personally and professionally.

Pick it up as soon as you can and enjoy!

    Great Read!

As a professional student soon to be entering the "real world", I found Power of 2 to be full of great advice for working with a partner, no matter how old or young, experienced or inexperienced you are! I will use lessons from Power of 2 throughout my career, and I encourage others to give it a read! It's not one of those impossibly boring business books, I found myself turning page after page, engrossed in the stories and lessons on forming great partnerships! An excellent read!

    Build Strong Partnerships

I first read Rodd's book 12 The Elements of Great Managing for my management class taught at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. I liked that book and found it to be applicable toward any career field in which people skills were necessary, which is just about any job. When we heard that Rodd was coming out with a new book, I jumped at the opportunity to read it.

I enjoyed reading Power of 2. It was easy to read, and it made me take another look at partnerships. It helped me to establish what criteria I will be looking for in a business partner when I take that leap. This book could be applicable to both business and personal partnerships. It helps you to recognize the elements of a good partnership.

What I have learned from reading this book: By taking a step back and assessing your skills and your partner's skill, you can better the partnership by accepting each other and supporting one another as you work toward a common goal.

    Insightful Storytelling

Rodd and Gale are masterful storytellers. They mindfully weave meaningful prose into the powerful research that highlights the distinct traits of excellent partnerships. This book was not only an interesting read but also helped me create a vocabulary for building meaningful partnerships within my own organization. Communication was one of the key elements mentioned of successful partnerships, and these two show bring their mastery of this skill to life in the pages of this book. No matter who you are you will walk away with a deeper appreciation and understanding of your best partnerships. Read it, you won't be dissapointed!

    more from this reviewer

Great combination of research, stories and practical advice on forming powerful partnerships

The Power of 2 is a wonderful mix of research, stories and practical guidance to improve the partnerships in anyone's life. This is a book for all. The themes presented to strengthen partnerships can be applied to all partnerships including business, social, and marital relationships and can even be applied to your relationship with your children.

Gallup research shows that there are eight elements of a powerful partnership; complementary strengths, common mission, fairness, trust, acceptance, forgiveness, communicating and unselfishness. Rodd Wagner (the author of the bestselling 12: The Elements of Great Managing) and Gale Muller write in a wonderful style that brings to life through stories and real life examples the findings of this research and provides glimpses into powerful partnerships like Michael Eisner and Frank Wells of Disney; Liv Arnesen and Ann Bancroft who crossed 1,7 78 miles of Antarctica in 97 days; Nobel Laureate Daniel Kahneman and Amod Tversky in their study of decision making and Karl Malone and John Stockton of the Utah Jazz professional basketball team.

If you are interested in reaching excellence in your partnerships this is the book for you.
