Overview

Every day, we set out to create a better life, a better career, or a better business. We often fail because we fall into old patterns. But what if by devoting just one single, focused hour a week we could make big improvements in our professional lives? And what if we knew in advance exactly what to focus on so that we could utterly destroy our old patterns?

THE POWER OF AN HOUR gives the listener the blueprint for making these changes one at a time. Different from most audiobooks that are too focused on one particular aspect of life, this holistic guide offers practical, everyday actions the listener can use to supercharge his personal and business development.

Designed by a successful entrepreneur to work specifically within the busy executive's or business owner's schedule, this insightful, enlightening guide is broken down into two groups of lessons: those hours dedicated to personal issues and those dedicated to business issues. The listener will learn about managing time, improving personal relationships, and creating and following a vision of future success.

    Step-by-step instructions for real change

Dave Lakhani's latest effort may just be the feel-good business book of the year. Not enough time in the day? Too many distractions competing for your attention? Not sure what to attack first? Take heart: All you need is one solid distraction-free hour and Lakhani's instruction manual (which won't take much more than an hour to digest), and you're on your way to achieving a Zen-like state of what he calls 'Fearsome Focus' that will blast your troubles away. Few of his instructions are revolutionary, but Lakhani's energy and enthusiasm propel his common-sense message to new heights of can-do optimism. The bulk of the book is composed of 18 chapters that focus on specific hour-long business or personal tasks, but these chapters simply extrapolate the essential idea of learning the skill of focus described in the first 35 pages. Once you've mastered focusing, you can choose from the chapters' tasks or make up your own. We prescribe this book as a cheerful pep talk for anyone who is pressed for time or struggling with an overwhelming to-do list.
