Doody's Review ServiceReviewer: Jeffrey S. Rosenthal, MD (Bridgeport Hospital)
Description: This book sheds a poignant light upon society's concept of beauty. It unmasks the various myths and fables associated with this principle, all the while clearing the path for the crucial and hallowed focus on our inner powers of seduction.
Purpose: The author wishes the reader to understand how the aura of seduction is interwoven with qualities of happiness, confidence, generosity, and zeal for life. He is able to cogently blend together the various neuro-anatomic origins of thought and feelings with the more intangible personality traits to produce an insightful look into what is required to be seductive or seduced.
Audience: Jean-Claude Hagège is a practiced French plastic surgeon who has had the opportunity to evaluate numerous patients from both a physical and psychological perspective. These ponderings are often not fully appreciated or even contemplated by many a novice and, often, by the connoisseurs of cosmetic surgery. Thus, those who profess to make the world more attractive through surgical and nonsurgical modes would do well to heed the ideas in this book.
Features: Beauty is but one component of the seductive formula; alone it lacks the overall intensity and longevity of grace, balance, and inner strength necessary to form a seductive persona. The process of understanding seduction unfolds in this six chapter book. Seduction stems from an internal freedom coupled with the sense of inner power. Formal beauty, although a component of seductive power, should not be confused with the power of seduction. History and literature are alluded to in the quest to understand the influence of the seductive personality over both males and females. The complicated inter-connection of the conscious and deeper segments of the mind are unraveled, along with raison d'être for these adaptive personal qualities.
Assessment: If, as the author profoundly notes, "the smile is the most powerful implement in the arsenal of seduction," then the reader of this book will gain an invaluable advantage by understanding and abiding by these and other tenets so aptly presented.
