This book is truly an amazing book - I don't care when it was written - it is priceless. In August 1999 I wrote a review on it on Amazon.com and what I said then still stands - it is the "start" of the rest of your life. One cannot read it and not be changed by it. A day or two ago, I again started re-reading it - I do that when I sense the need to get back on the right path. It is inspiring, motivating, providing a guidance and direction rarely found in today's books. Dr. Murphy squeezed every nugget of truth he held in-between the lines. I've recommended it to many people, some finding it hard to relate it to today's world but when you want a diamond sometimes you have to polish it... I am so ever grateful that God touched this man's heart to write this book. It has been with me through thick and thin and I will cherish its truths no matter how fast the world turns! One other book I keep next to this one is the Magic of Thinking Big by David Scwhartz. It too is amazing and makes one look at life differently. I highly recommend these two books for the truth-seeker. Ahh, the secret of life in just one book..well, make that two books!

Please, if you are reading this right now and you are looking for a way to solve your most pressing problems or to fulfill an unmet desire in such a way as to not hurt anyone, in a fast way, in a guaranteed way....buy this book and apply the principles!! All the reviewers can't be wrong. We have no interest in speaking well of this book other than to help other people. I came upon this book because someone had the generousity to recommend it to me; I am doing the same. Some of my successes with using the techniques are as follows: --I always wanted to live in abroad. At the time I was literally living on a relative's floor, saving up money but working a job I didn't particularly like. That was in November that I first read this book. By the last week of January the following year (yes, less than 90 days later), I moved to Europe, found a place in less than 24 hours (even though everyone says it could take months). I literally live in walking distance to a small palace and lake too-- and less than 90 days before I was living on someone's floor!! --Later when I decided to move, I found another place. I visualized the exact place I wanted. Even though I was 4th in line for the place I wanted, I got the exact place I had written down as being my first choice. Someone had even left behind supplies I needed to buy thus I didn't have to buy them myself! What more can I say? When you are successful with using these principles, buy a copy and give it to someone who needs it and will be willing to stick with it long enough for it to work. The key is sticking with it, being tenacious until you see results; expect things to happen easily and quickly though. And if it takes a little time, that is okay to because it WILL work. Finally, this book is especially helpful in showing you how to use mind dynamics to easily attract your ideal mate. I recommend reading the chapter on attracting a partner from this book, also in conjunction wth his book The Cosmic Energizer (esp. the chapter on marriage which is chapter 13.; there is also a good case study/success story in chapter 7 discussing how someone was successful in using this technique. You can also get his book from Devorss Press (just google them) 'Collected Essays of Joseph' Murphy' and read his Essay 'Love is Freedom' which is very, very inspiring and helpful). Buy Dr. Murphy's works today--you will be so happy you did!!

The book is good for christians.But for other religions it is difficult to follow. Almost every page contains quotes from bible.

This book is actually two previously published books: The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, originally published in 1963, and How to Attract Money, originally published in 1955. This new compilation expertly presents modern day knowledge and fascinating information about the power of our hidden subconscious minds. Murphy, (1898-1981) a new thought minister, believed that the subconscious mind is a darkroom where we develop the images that are to be played out in real life. The conscious mind sees an event, takes a picture of it and remembers it, while the subconscious mind works backward, seeing something before it happens (and this is why intuition is infallible). The subconscious responds to habit and regular habitual thinking. It is totally neutral in a moral sense, and is happy to adopt any habit as normal - whether good or bad. Unaware of our negative thoughts, we let them drop into our subconscious in every minute of our lives, and then are surprised when they find expression in daily experiences and relationships. When we become aware of this process and unearth the gems of knowledge that are hidden, we can become free from the patterns that we have created. I first read this book about 25 years ago. Seeing it's revised edition made me want to read that as well and liked it even better. Ian M. related many facts to bible verses proving God's plan for our knowledge on this topic. The subsconscious mind is our inner self and can do so much for our good and the good of all. It is still as engrossing as ever and when put to the test... it never fails to amaze me! I bought copies for several friends and my two adult children.
I wish I had shared this information with my children when I first read it. I thought I would wait until they were older. Now I know there is no time like the present and wish I had done it right then. They were not too young to learn about the workings of their subsconscious mind and how it can help them in every way! It's such a riviting and quick read. You will not be sorry you bought this book!!!

I got this book by chance two months ago. Since I start reading, I can't put it down. I found a value of my life and change my perspective. I think more positively. For then on, I changed my life. Good things come to me and i keep thank you foe the book, God my mind. They are powerful and amazing. Even today, I have more happiness, peace, and love. Start loving myself because of thinking positively, that really change my entire life. Thank you Dr. Murphy.

This new edition of the classic, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, is the best book it has been my pleasure to read on how to engage your mind to accomplish more. The new edition, revised by Dr. McMahan, is clearly more than a five star book. If you sincerely want to improve, this book will make many powerful contributions to your efforts to do so. The book begins by describing the relationship between your conscious (active, focused thoughts) and subconscious (automatic thoughts, such as directing your breathing and heart beat) mental processes. Your subconscious mind is able to tap into all of your memories (even ones that you cannot consciously remember) and takes emotionally-laden messages seriously (that's why you get adrenaline pumping when you feel afraid, so you have more energy to get away from danger). The key lesson of this is that if you consciously believe something, your subconscious mind is ingenious in finding solutions to your problem. An example comes with the well-known placebo effect. If you give people a sugar pill and tell them it will cure their disease, many people will be cured. The way this works is that their belief in the cure provides changes in the biochemistry of the body that causes the body to go back into a healthy state. This effect has been found to work with those who focus on innovation. They will leave a problem for their subconscious mind to focus on, and soon a solution appears in a day-dream or in a sleeping dream. The book takes these well-known connections and applies them into virtually every area of living including: Overcoming disease Achieving a result you want Wealth building Innovating Avoiding marital problems Experiencing happiness Having harmonious relations with other people Forgiveness Removing mental blocks to progress (such as writers experience) Reducing or eliminating fear Staying young in spirit as the body ages. The book provides general descriptions of how these mental processes affect physical reality. Each subject area then contains some examples that relate to the specific area of improvement. Some examples are well-known ones, while others come from the author's life. General references are then cited to reinforce the lessons here, which include the New Testament, historical experiences, scientific studies, and contemporary research on these effects. Finally, the relevant section concludes with very specific instructions for pursuing the effects. This information usually includes possible affirmations to reiterate with emotional conviction several times a day. I personally can subscribe that the methods here work, having employed them in my life for many years. Unlike the books that encourage you to do affirmations, this one makes the connection to holding real belief and experiencing emotion about that belief. Affirmations that are not based on emotional belief that you have made these changes are a waste of time. Most people know about the power of changing beliefs and acting in accordance with those beliefs. Yet, they do not follow through. They lack faith in the reality they want to create. This edition will make it much easier for you to have that faith, because the book is quite credible. If you have enjoyed books like Think and Grow Rich and The Power of Positive Thinking, you will find this book to be an improvement over even those superb self-help classics. This book provides more reasons to have confidence in this method, more ways to apply this way of improving, and directions for you in how to change more parts of your life. As you improve in one area of your life, it will be easier for you to go on and improve in the next. Let me share an experience I had in rereading this book. This book was recommended to me by a new friend and now I know, a very wise friend! Since reading 'The Secret', I have been on a journey of discovery and it has lead to the pot of gold in Mr. Murphy's book. Excellent material, easy to read and comprehend. Daily meditations are outstanding, especially combined with prayer. Testimonials are good. I bought the book the moment I picked it up. And I recommend it to all my friends.

I've read this book before in small paperback form, but decided that it would make easier reading in a larger size and up to date with revisions. I was right, some of the verbage has been changed to make it a bit more 21st Century friendly reading.
This is definitely a useful tool for anyone who has an open mind and is willing to try.

for years i had the feeling that the power of the subconcious could do wonders,but nobody ever put it in such clear way that even a five years old could understand it,i was looking for that formula(because i knew it was there)and once i found it that's it , is like one of those optical illusions that once you find the right way to look at it there is no turning back,no matter how you look at it you always going to see it the way it is,that's exactly the way this book works,once you unravel the formula,no matter how do you look at it you are going to see the truth.please buy it,free your mind,we are not getting pay for this,but it is the responsability of that one with knowledge to pass it forward and that's what we are doing,our part for a better world.

I read the book ,and the most amazing thing is that its so real about our thoughts and mind the way they function.At times when i think and do something i remeber what i read and so i try to be so positive creating my inner mind and feelings with what is positive and i find it working for me. Such an encouraging book i might buy it again becoz i gave my friend who is miles away and at times i want to review more of it. Thank murphy you opened my mind wider.

This book fell into my hands over 20 years ago and with its use I have completely changed my life. I still use it from time to time as a reminder of what I can do with my own mind. I recommend it to everyone I know.

This is a really profound and powerful book. My mother recommended it to me, and it has made a HUGE difference in my life and in my parents' lives. It is literally a 'how-to manual' for how your conscious mind and subconscious mind work together to create your life. Everything that happens is in your control, and by following this book, my family and I have created the happiness and 'daily miracles' we wanted to. If you read any of Anthony Robbins books or are interested in Jung's theories about synchronicity, then I have found that this book is the one that ties all of those ideas together and fills them out.
