Praise for the Gecko & Sticky books:
"A dastardly good read. Written with gleeful wit, rapid-fire pacing and snappy dialogue." Kirkus Reviews
"Fearsome is rarely this much fun. Van Draanen has a super imagination, to which she never applies the brakes. Readers who enjoy loony adventures will love this ride." Children's Literature
"Consistently entertaining . . . reaching a frenetic level of energy and comedy as the story's tension builds." Booklist
"Peppered with exaggerated alliteration and the excitable lizard's Spanish-tinged 'Stickynese,' the wisecracking narrative bounds from one slapstick scenario to another." Publishers Weekly

Sticky, a talking gecko kleptomaniac, and Dave Sanchez, dorky delivery boy by day and wall walking superhero by night, make an entertaining duo in this zany tale filled with gypsies, goats, a caffeine loving monkey, and a quirky evil villain with his power portion. Readers will hang on tight as Dave and Sticky take them on a wild ride through Gypsy town and into evil Damien's dungeon, complete with a tarantula terrarium. They will meet some very funky characters along the way, including a wise, old service station attendant, the Bandito Brothers, the gypsy Yanko Purran, and a monkey that lets nothing come between him and his caffeine. The funny and action-filled plot is peopled with memorable characters. Sticky, for example, peppers his speech with Spanish and "Stickynese" terms, which are defined at the back of the book. He lets Dave know that gecko power is asombroso (awesome). And, when in a pickle, he might blurt out "freaky frijoles." There are funny scenes that just might have readers laughing out loud. The author uses alliteration like nobody's business! Because of its lighthearted tone and interesting characters, this title is a good bet for reluctant middle school readers. Reviewer: Jeanne K.
