Reagan has started a new life as a strong, independent woman. The last thing she wants is to be trapped in another controlling relationship. Letting a dominant man like Gabe into her life could cost her everything she's worked so hard for. But Reagan sees the emotions Gabe's keeping locked inside, and she knows how to unlock those feelings.
Gabe is determined to never lose control, show weakness or reveal his secrets. But the lust he shares with Reagan breaks through his walls. Faced with a bleak, lonely future, he must somehow find the strength to let himself be vulnerable before he can experience the joy and sweetness of love.

When Gabe finds himself in a rut he follows a friend's advice and takes a break from the lifestyle and the club. Yet just as he decides to do such a thing he finds Reagan. She sets everything in him on edge making him wonder just what it all means. Gabe sees Reagan as a woman off limits but life has other plan for the two of them. Could it be that Gabe the Master Dom that everyone looks to has finally met his match or will his own stubbornness be his downfall?
I was glad to see Gabe find his match. He is a very intense individual and it takes a strong woman to stand up to him. Reagan is just that woman. I loved Reagan from the start. She is a woman on a mission. Having always been controlled she finally decides to take back her life and do things for herself. I liked the fact that she constantly looked for a challenge to do to make herself better no matter how small or big and Gabe is certainly a challenge. The intensity of their feelings throughout their building relationship was a wonderful read. No matter what, Reagan loves Gabe and tries to help him. I felt for Gabe as he went through so much in this book and hoped that he would finally turn to Reagan for help. The two make a wonderful couple, each understanding and giving the other just what they need.
This book was not only a hot read but also a beautiful story about friendship and romance. We get Reagan and Gabe's story, and we also get to revisit the two other couples from this series. If you have not read the previous books I would advise you to read them. Though this story will stand alone, you would get a much better feel and understanding of the story and the characters if you read the others. If you have read them then, like me, you will thoroughly enjoy this book and its wonderful story even more so.

Power Shift was one of those books that, for me, started out a bit slow but soon became a very captivating story. Gabe was a very complex character, which explains why it took me a little while to get emotionally attached to him. He was a very compelling man once it started becoming clear how his past experiences had shaped who he had become. Reagan was also a very complicated personality to describe. She was not a push over, nor was she a soft character who could be manipulated easily. Both she and Gabe had some realistic knee jerk reactions to things that didn’t always seem run-of-the-mill but they definitely seemed human to me.
I don’t think that people always react a certain way to every experience. I enjoy this kind of behavior in characters when it isn’t so farfetched that it is unbelievable because we all do or say things sometimes and then look back and think to ourselves….”Where did that come from? I never do that. ” I believe that Ms. Jamieson had a pretty good instinct for when a character would do something just a little out of the norm.
The other characters in the book were also interesting enough to me that I will need to read the other books that they are in. These books are not really listed as a series but as connected books. Power Struggle, and Taming Tara, are the other titles. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a story where two people have given up on love but love hasn’t given up on them.
Favorite Quote: “You’re practically begging for it, aren’t you?” he murmured.
His chuckle rasped over her senses. “I like begging, Reagan.”
“I’m not going to beg.”
He was silent for a moment, his fingers still playing, and she wondered if she’d said the wrong thing. Then he said softly, “Damn.”
