From the Publisher
"While writing The 4-Hour Body, I conducted thousands of tests and experiments and consulted with more than a hundred scientists, doctors, and world-class athletic coaches. It was a three-year quest to find the smallest inputs that create the largest outputs. On the endurance front, one name came up again and again: Brian MacKenzie. If you want to go from zero to marathon in 12 weeks, or perhaps run 100 miles and dead-lift two to three times your body weight without struggle, he's your secret weapon. Listen and learn."—Timothy Ferriss, #1 New York Times best-selling author of The 4-Hour Body

I have been following along with the website for years now and bumbled along with what i thought the drills and skills were, now i have a clear and concise definition for the drills to make my form more efficient. This wIll also assist in doing my next Ultra with strict CFE programing to see the benefits of long distance, already dropped my 15k and shorter distances down to a few years back when i was quick.

This book serves as a "must have" guide for the casual athlete, to the contender in all of us. I found all of the information regarding multi-sports incredibly well laid and methodical. It was also great to see all of the picture examples relating to proper form on weightlifting. It was like having my own personal training standing there. I just wish this book was out when I started training years ago! Pick it up! You will not regret it.

How do you shave 1 minute off your mile in 4-weeks...you learn how to run! I have been running for the last 8 years, taught numerous running groups and gotten people ready for 5ks, 1/2 marathons and marathons and this book has shifted my entire thinking in my approach to endurance, skill, form, and running mechanics. If you want to truly learn not only how to correctly run, but become successful at it, this book is a must!

This is a true innovator in the endurance world. An absolute must for athletes and coaches unscared of trying new ideas. -The content is written very well (I will be able to dip in and out of each section with ease). -There are quality pictures showing the reader exactly what the author means (in this case a picture shows a thousand words X20!). -This explains the full package an endurance athlete needs which makes it worth it's weight in gold.  I recommend every coach read this and get their athletes to read it too. This will be a real game changer and your performance will improve. Graham C BSc (Hons) CrossFit Coach, CFE coach

Power Speed Endurance will shift the endurance training/racing paradigm. The principles of training examined and the training programs outlined provide an archetype for performance maximization. The bottom line is that the Crossfit Endurance template produces results. The underlying physiology is strong and the teaching/learning emphasis placed on fundamentals and mechanics is much needed in contemporary human performance. If you are looking to maximize your athletic performance or re-define your physical self, Power Speed Endurance is the wise starting point. As an aspiring triathlete, this book has allowed me to go from a simple crossfit regimen to multi-sport program in no time. Really a great tool that I'll continue to refer to over the course of my training!

I have been an endurance athlete for over 8 years, about 4 years in I found CFE and Brian Mackenzie and I have never looked back. The book is the summation of what they have been talking about over the past 5 years, and is t he core of my training and philosophies when I train personally, and how I coach others, and have gotten great results and used CFE methods all the way up the the full IronMan level.

I was referred to pick this up by a friend and I cannot set it down! This book is a must have for any athlete who is training to get better at a certain skill or to just simply understand the mechanics of a certain movement. I really enjoy how this book wraps the Crossfit domain with an endurance model to focus on 1) techniques, 2) intensity, and 3) volume. By establishing and following this “Crossfit Endurance” model, it just makes sense to focus on quality of training versus quantity of training. I really enjoyed how this literature contains chapters on individual skills. The chapters were very informative with the description of movements, the mechanics behind it, and drills to practices these certain skills. The chapters were also really reader friendly with the amount of detailed pictures. I really learned a few things that I thought I already knew in each chapter. Certain chapters helped me more than others but overall, this was a very good book to review some movements. I certainly recommend it to anyone who is training for competition or just training recreationally. It’s reader friendly and contains a lot of information so if you are trying to work on your running, cycling, swimming, strength and conditioning, mobility, or just programming a workout, I highly suggest this book and it’s “skilled-based approach to endurance training”.

I am pleased to see Brian Mackenzie finally presenting his material in the form of a book. His skill based approach to endurance training makes a strong case on how a Techinique-Based practice is the foundation of all human performance, and how injecting some simple CrossFit based methodology we can achieve a fairly accurate solution to most problems seen in the world of endurance sports. The drills and techniques presented in this book are a great road map for anyone interested in developing a general understanding on how to navigate the world of strength and conditioning and create a direct skill transfer into their sport of choice. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in human performance.

This book focuses in on the skills that make a difference for an endurance athlete. Anyone can run, but not everyone runs with efficiency. I found quite a few enlightening drills through the pages of this book and really got excited about getting on my mountain bike again! - Daniel

This book is a very comprehensive source for endurance athletes that want to train efficiently. Brian has included so many pictures and details in a very clear presentation. I recommend that all endurance athletes have this in their library as a great reference for technique and conditioning. This book has much to offer athletes at every level.

As a sports therapist, this is a great tool to help guide patients into the concept of prioritizing form/mechanics and intensity over volume. Whether it's running or working out with weights, overuse injuries occur when form fails and/or volume is exceeded. Thank you Brian for outlining a guide with great images and simple explanations. This book will be a standard of reference for endurance athletes looking to maximize their training and performance potentials.

First and foremost this is an enjoyable read; its well written and graphics are superb. After my independent review I was impressed by its future use as a reference guide. I made a spot for it on my desk next to Boyle, John, Rippetoe and even Lydiard

As a CrossFit gym owner and participant in an Endurance program I can attest to this being a super effective, fun, innovative way of training. My Endurance athletes are exceeding goals, PRing on runs, and becoming increasingly efficient at multi-sport training. I cannot say enough about this program, Brian, or the work that has been done to provide a new way of training that creates proven positive results and even more importantly reduces injury. The book itself is amazing!! It is very easy to follow and read. There is a clear path for an athlete of any level in the book. I'm thrilled it is finally here and available to the masses!

This book is a must read for any endurance who athlete who wants to maximize results and improve performance without beating themselves into the ground with long, boring training sessions. At the same time, Brian's methodology enables you to get stronger, faster, and more powerful while getting prepared to go for the long haul on race day. I first met Brian at the CrossFit Endurance Seminar in Atlanta, January 2009 and have used his methodology and guidance to complete 3 100 mile ultras, an Ironman, and multiple 50ks over the past few years while staying strong, powerful, preserving my lean muscle mass, and preventing overuse injuries associated with traditional endurance training programs. Hi book contains everything you need to know to help accomplish all of that!!!

Awesome book! I attended a CrossFit Endurance certification in 2011 and this provided a much more in-depth analysis and explanation of the key concepts that we learned at the seminar. The book is clearly well thought out, organized, and tons of pictures from a variety of angles helped me to gain a deeper understanding of the system. We are in the process of implementing an endurance program at my gym and this will definitely be the go-to reference for my coaches and I. If you told me you could only buy one book on endurance training this year, I would send you straight to this out to get this one! Thanks to Brian and the CrossFit Endurance crew for developing such a comprehensive guide to endurance training!

This book is great for the novice to seasoned athlete. It will revolutionize your training by improving technique in all areas, running, swimming, biking, strength training and mobility. Long slow distance and the injuries that come with it are a thing of the past. Smart, high intensity, effecient training is the wave of the future. I know because it has worked for me. If you want to be a better athlete and train with intention and purpose and still have a life, buy this book.

I have read many books on fitness I will definitely put Power, Speed, and Endurance at the top of my must read list. • First off, the layout is wonderful the color tabs, pictures, and explicit details have been great • Second, the Running chapter is written and illustrated so well I thought I was in the CrossFit Endurance course all over again • Third, the Cycling chapter had some great hints that I have started using and improved my rides immensely, just by looking at a few pictures weird I know • Fourth, the Swimming chapter one of my favorite pass times and the crawl has been covered in a very well straight to the point way • Fifth, the Strength-and Conditioning chapter should take all of the ifs, ands, and buts about strength-and-conditioning out of the endurance factor and show that getting stronger will definitely help in all aspects • Sixth, the Mobility chapter is still one of my favorites without it I think that many endurance athletes would be in a very stiff mess. Keep in mind all of these mobility exercises will not feel great but after you perform them and see the improvement you will believe • Seventh, the Fueling Protocol chapter is great because if you do not understand the activities you do you will suffer in one way or the other due to not getting the nutrition you need at the point of breaking or even in the pre-event meals when and what. • Eighth, the CrossFit Endurance Programming this chapter is broken down so well I think anyone will be very happy with the breakdown. He has gone into a great deal of detail hear leaving so many tidbits of information to help everyone on the schemes of programming. Keep this in mind I have just thrown some tidbits here guys keep in mind this is one of the best laid out informational source for endurance training I have ever seen. I will say all that anyone needs to do is buy the book it is a great book.

Done correctly CrossFit Endurance will allow u to have a life outside your (marathon) training, it is possible to work, have a family, a social life, get the miles/work in, recover & b in the best shape you've ever been in. Without having the actual coach there with you, this book will become your coach. I think it's well written, & having all the pictures of an actual human (not a drawing) makes it all that much easier to fallow, I love it. Buy the book & get a life.

This book has been a valuable asset in my training. I was originally confused regarding some aspects of endurance training, especially in relation to the CrossFit community. After reading this book, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and understand the skill needed to enhance endurance across several domains. The way this book was formatted allowed me to see the correct form, progression of movements, and the drills. One of the most important things to me is the pictures of incorrect form, and common faults. It allows you to not only see the mistakes, but to understand why they are occurring and how to correct them. I have immediately begun implementing the drills and procedures for correct form and I love it!!!! I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve their skills and endurance, whether it is the new runner, swimmer, cyclist, or advanced athlete, and of course everyone in the CrossFit Community. For that matter, anyone who wants to learn skills and endurance, get this book! It has helped me greatly.

Add this book to your training reference library! This book embodies the methodology of Crossfit Endurance. If you want to be fitter, stronger and less injury prone then this book will help you to meet those goals. The color photography is excellent, as well as the descriptions of drills, form and exercises. The book teaches the endurance athlete proper form for efficient running, biking and swimming. The Crossfit section will help the non-Crossfitter to understand most of the basic movements of functional fitness. The mobility section is an excellent resource for all the aches that come with hard training. Lastly, programming on how to fit it all in your life is detailed.
