Overview

HDR Photography is THE hot topic in Digital Photography right now - it is the first technique that is only possible in the digital world rather than a digital version of a film technique. HDR imagery is the process of taking a several photographs of the same subject at a variety of different exposures and then combining these images to create one image. This final image becomes rich in color and detail, as all the highlights and lowlights are combined into the one composition. This book provides the reader with an abundance of step-by-step examples that will quickly make them an expert on the theory and practice of shooting and processing HDR images. As well as practical advice on shooting and processing, the book also contains a global showcase of inspirational HDR images - you will quickly find that HDR offers unparralleled opportunities for indulging your creative instincts, from photo-realistic to hyper- realism.

This book is actually a great reference to High Dynamic Range photography, however, it is almost impossible to read! The publisher has selected a very tiny font for the body of the text, and then has laid it out so the font is many times overlaid on a dark background, making it almost totally illegible. What a shame to make such a wonderful book so unapproachable! If you struggle through with a magnifying glass, there is a treasure trove of information though.

This book contains basic information and gives solid advice, however it doesn't go far enough. It provides basic information but lacks depth to truly give you insight into the full potential HDR can provide. I'd say it is a good book to start with, just be prepared to buy several more books if your goal is to learn the full potential HDR offers.

Book is relevant to my landscape and urban photography which can be viewed at http://www.flickriver.com/photos/15254782@N08/. I am most pleased this publication makes the HDR process so easy to expand one's approach and development. R W Green
