Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
'It would be particularly useful as a quick reference and easy to use bench-side book for those presented with a particular problem during an ultrasound list.' Clinical Radiology
Marlin J. Fugate
This is a practical guide to the anatomy and pathology of the head and neck. The editors bring together information regarding ultrasound of the head and neck in a single concise text. It is well-organized and very user friendly. This format readily lends itself to readers at all levels of training, whether one is just beginning or simply requires a quick review. The purpose is to compile information regarding ultrasound of the head and neck into a single, concise source. This is a worthy objective, as there are few other similar texts. This book readily lends itself to any student sonographers, residents, or attending radiologists. The editors utilize well-chosen diagrams that correlate with the sonographic images to give the reader a sound basis to begin and then move through the pathology of the head and neck. The insert on the sonographic images showing landmarks and transducer location for that particular image allow the reader to quickly assess the location and plane of imaging. The "box bullets" throughout the various chapters give a ready review of major points to allow the reader to quickly scan the chapter for pertinent information. In addition, the general hints and pitfalls provided direct the reader to a closer examination of problem areas. It was a pleasant surprise to find the chapters dealing with management issues. What the surgeon needs to know, and why, as well the chapter dealing with biopsy techniques, are important additions. This type of cross-specialty information allows for a more coherent and complete examination by the individual performing the ultrasound. This book stands alone as a very reader friendly guide to the anatomy and pathology of the headand neck. It will be useful to all readers from student to attending level. The diagrams are well chosen and easy to understand and blend nicely with the well thought out, concise text.
