Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Vanessa Richardson
Packed with information and text, this small (7.5 by 5.25) book is perfect for a "tween" girl aged eight to twelve. It includes fun, one-color interior illustrations and language that is current with today's young girls. At times the writer may be trying too hard with words like pizzazzy, beautilicious, BFF, and shockeroo. The story line will hold the attention of the age range intended. The subject matter includes note-passing in class, slumber parties, pizza, trying on vintage clothes, a spelling bee, learning about and playing on the Ouija board, bugs, pranks, and boys. There is a sleepover handbook in the back of the book with lots of ideas for slumber party themes, games, ways to handle friend troubles, activities with boys, edible architecture and other fun treats to make. On the last page is a great marketing idea. There is a little comic page with the Groovy Girls going to the mall and picking up the wrong bags from the cashier. The reader has to go to the web site to find out what is in their bags. Nice idea to get people to continue with the product.
