Library Journal
Wimberly, a professor of pastoral theology, provides an overview of the pastoral counseling process, with detailed accounts of counseling an individual woman, a couple, and a family. At the same time, he discusses the role of prayer in counseling, based upon his premise that God is the true healer, that prayer needs the counselee's understanding and permission, and that prayer can help expand the counselee's perspective so that growth-blocking perceptions can be discarded. Essential for seminary libraries; recommended for large public libraries as well.
