This is a collection of Dan Simmons earlier works including his first published short story, The River Styx Runs Upstream. It also includes The Death of a Centaur, which is considered to be the very first story set in the Hyperion Cantos Universe. This collection also offers Remembering Siri, which was the story that acted as the catalyst for Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion. Also included is Carrion Comfort, which was the original story and idea that led to Simmons' masterpiece novel of the same name. Prayers to Broken Stones is a fantastic anthology that showcases Simmons' humble beginnings and the origins of some of his best novels. Each story is well written and edited. I would certainly recommend this book to any Dan Simmons fan.
This is a collection of short stories, including a television screenplay based on one of those short stories. All of the stories are well-written, and show the talent of this writer. Editing is very good. All of the stories were apparently written in 1980's, so some of the material is a bit dated, but still entertaining.
