Overview

A twenty-six-week devotional study by the bestselling coauthor of Women of the Bible Names in the ancient world did more than simply distinguish one person from another, they often conveyed the essential nature and character of a person. This is especially true when it comes to the names of God recorded in the Bible. Praying the Names of God explores the primary names and titles of God in the Old Testament to reveal the deeper meanings behind them. El Shadday, Elohim, Adonay, Abba, El Elyon - God Almighty, Mighty Creator, Lord, Father, God Most High - these are just a few of the names and titles of God that yield rich insights into his nature and character. Praying the Names of God shows readers how to study and pray Gods names by focusing each week on one of the primary names or titles of God. Monday - readers study a portion of Scripture that reveals the name. TuesdayThursday - readers pray specific Scripture passages related to the name. Friday - readers pray Scripture promises connected to the name. By incorporating the divine names and titles into their prayers - and learning about the biblical context in which the name was revealed - readers will gain a more intimate understanding of who God is and how he can be relied on in every circumstance of their lives. Praying the Names of God is a unique devotional, one that offers a rich program of daily prayer and study designed to lead people into fresh encounters with the living God.

Good resource to learn some of the many names of God. Good way to spend time getting to know God better & his many characteristics & attributes. It's helpful when one is discouraged, frustrated, weak, feeling lost or lonely. His names mean something & this book helps you see Him & know Him more deeply. Definitely a reader friendly book with lots of scripture references.

5 Star for the content of the book is very good, but the ebook display is awful!! NO Stars because the font is way too small and the font cannot be adjusted. Don't waste your money on the ebook. I bought this same ebook for the Kindle iPad App and it works perfectly...the font is easily changed to various sizes. It was even offered for free! Shame on B&N for not correcting the font size. I even showed the in-store personnel and they were of no help.

I use this book as part of my daily devotions. It gives me instructive ways to enhance my prayer life. Praying the names of God also allows me to better know my God.

I used this book to initiate a Lenten prayers series, and the 'one reading a day' set up of the book was very useful for this. In one way it was difficult to not just read ahead and get it done, but the focus on mindfully reading was very helpful.

Ann Spangler explains the many names of God, revealing countless ways that He speaks to us so that we, in turn, may come to know Him in greater depth. The inherent power in the names of God becomes more real as you pray the names, praising and loving Him for who He is. Because I like this book so much, my copy is dog-eared, written in, and generally well-worn.

I would really like to purchase this book but tge font is too small. Is there anyway to fix that?

The other book by Ann Spangler, namely, Praying the Names of Jesus is fine. The print is readable... This book is unreadable even after changing the font to the largest allowed. B&N should be able to fix this Too bad jtd3n1

The ebook version of this title does not allow the reader to change font or font size for the majority of each section of the book except the closing questions. The reader is stuck with very small print for the meat of the devotional.

Without a doubt you will need a very large magnifying glass.
