Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Much has been written about preparation for childbirth. Wilson is unique in covering the previous steppreparation for pregnancyin this thorough, up-to-date guide. She covers a wide range of concerns that are best resolved before conception. Topics include the parenthood decision, diet and exercise, financial and career adjustments, and more. The book emphasizes the practical rather than emotional issues involved in contemplating pregnancy. For a fuller discussion of the latter, the reader might try A Baby? . . . Maybe by Elizabeth Whelan (Bobbs, 1980. rev. ed.). Wilson's attention to possible complications such as miscarriage, genetic defects, and financial difficulties could discourage some prospective parents, but overall the book should appeal to cautious modern couples. Recommended for general collections. Barbara Carroll, Grandview Heights P.L., Columbus, Ohio
