Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Armed with a lectionary guide and a Scriptural index, Thurston (William F. Orr Professor of New Testament, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary; The Widows: A Women's Ministry in the Early Church) has written a fine, patient, scholarly, and well-reasoned explication, pericope by pericope, of the Gospel of Mark. Each section offers at least one reference to a work for further study. Clear, persuasively written, and palatable, it is a splendid example of the merits of the publisher's preaching resources. Curious readers with even a light background in theology can also use it as an ideal introduction to the texts of Christian Scripture. Highly recommended. Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.
