This is the fifth in the "Animorphs," a science fiction action series, which was originally published in 1996. This is a republished version with a lenticular or hologram cover. Each volume features a cast of teen-age Animorphs who have the ability to transform themselves into other animal forms. The Animorphs have been invaded by the Yeerks and each book involves adventures these teens have in the war against the Yeerks. Each volume is told from a one character's point of view. This time Marco, who tends to shy away from the war, is the narrator. The major story line involves another teenager, Ax, a technically brilliant but socially immature animorph, who wants to return to his planet, Andalite but has no transportation. With the help of Jake, another one of the Animorph gang, he decides to steal a Yeerk ship. Following a very similar script used by all other books in the series, they go through many exciting and often comic adventures, resolving their problem but leaving additional issues to be answered in the next volume. In this volume we learn a little more as he revisits his mother's grave and deals with his father's depression over her death, so there is some minor character development. Readers are more likely to appreciate the character development here if they have read the previous volumes. Applegate, who was the author for this story (although many other books in the series were ghost-written), sticks to very simple sentence structure and elementary-aged vocabulary. This book may encourage reluctant readers with its emphasis on action and humor, but it will not satisfy anyone who is used to well-written prose. Reviewer: Leigh Geiger, Ph.D.

    Amazing

    Marco and the Animorphs have to get a Bugfighter for Ax. They send the message for the Bugfighter and get caught by Yeerks. Marco and his friends enter the Yeerk mothership. Marco realizes Visser One is his mother who his father thought was dead. This was very shocking for Marco. Now he has a reason to fight.

    Cool book!

    This book was really cool but sad too. Read the book if you want to know what I'm talking about. They just keep getting better and better!

    Ok

    It sounds ok. I just dont know. It is a good series. I heard about it at my school when i found a book. You will get confused if youu havent read the series and just randomly pick a book. Its a good series.

    one of the best!

    It seems Ax is finally a little homesick so the Animorphs try to get a ship for Ax. Before that they have to take Ax to the Mall(uh-oh) it turns out to be Bad news but what Marco is going to find out will change him...
