Mary Elaina Johnson was born to parents Jimmy and Clemmie Moore on August 23, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was raised in Columbia, Mississippi, by her great-grandmother, Janie Calvin. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications-Journalism from Saint Louis University and graduated Cum Laude. She also has a Master of Arts in Education from Lindenwood University and was inducted into the Alpha Chi National Honor Society in 2011. She remembers loving books and reading as a child, and she always enjoyed it. She also had a natural flair for writing. It has always been a dream to create and write various books and short stories. She lives with her husband, Larry Johnson, Sr., in Belleville, Illinois. She has two biological sons, Dwayne and Shaun Moore, and two stepchildren, Larry Johnson, Jr., and Carmen Johnson.
