Overview

The series presents the presidential addresses given before the three geographical divisions of the Association and its predecessors. This fifth volume encompasses most of World War II, and some of the addresses appear out of order due to meetings that were canceled and presentations that were delayed because of wartime restrictions on travel, which was a custom during wars of the past. Editor Hull (emeritus, philosophy, State U. of New York-Buffalo) also attributes the often imprecise editing of the papers to the demands and rigors of the war. For each of the president/speakers, a biography is provided from reports of others checked against whatever historical records he could find. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
