Congressional Quarterly has covered general election results for years in its popular ``America Votes'' series. This new work by the same editor examines presidential preference primaries and caucuses, providing county-by-county results for every candidate who received at least 10 percent of the total statewide vote in the 1992 election. Also listed are results by Congressional district and the pledged delegate count resulting from each primary election or, in the 12 states that have them, each caucus or convention. Statistics are given for the 50 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the U.S. Senate and House Democratic caucuses. The book first offers statistical summaries of the state primaries in 1992, 1988, and 1984, then provides two charts of the results from each national convention's first ballot. Each state profile contains primary or caucus data, registration figures, results, and a state map with all counties outlined. This is a strictly statistical compilation useful for in-depth research by politicians or those interested in tracing voting patterns. Later this year, a companion volume will report primary results for Con gressional and Gubernatorial Elections . Libraries with extensive political science collections will want both.-- Barbara Keen, Spokane Community Coll. Lib., Wash.
