    Experiencing God's Presence

The many topics that Margaret Harrell Wills taps into in her book, Pressing into Thin Places, aren't exhaustive, but are the ones she feels God is impressing on her to share. Some of which include faith, prayer, encounters with God, God's presence, a listening heart, and the knowledge that God wants to be a part of your life, even during the hard times. She does this through her short stories, poetry, her observations, prayers, and Scripture verses.

I found Margaret's book to be a warm, soul-searching and encouraging book for those who walk this earth-through the depths of damaged relationships, personal bewilderment, the loss of a loved one, and absorbing grief. Her true life examples show us how God reaches out to us in a very personal way, as though He has removed the veil between heaven and earth, reaching into our very hearts and souls while we touch His heart. Life is hard, but He is there for you even when you don't feel His presence. Margaret is able to depict the heart of God through her short stories, poetry, her observations, prayers, and Scripture verses.

The stories are clear and to the point, personal and encouraging. Her poems create a deeper personal touch, some of which I will be reading again. And the Scripture verses expound and clarify what she is sharing. Nothing is more powerful than the Word of God. She closes with her inspiration of the Our Father from Matthew 6:9-13. She has a way with words that will move your soul.

This book was provided by Audra Jennings of The B & B Media Group, Inc., in exchange for my honest review.

    Highly Recommended

When I finished reading Margaret Will's Pressing into Thin Places (2011) I made a quick list on the inside cover of my personal copy of people who I knew would not only love this book, but would also need this book at some point in their lives. So much of what she wrote about I could relate to-sometimes to the point of tears of my own. Her words reminded me of some precious truths that I needed to hear again. Like . . . resting in His forgiveness; like . . . "The older I get, the less I pretend to know about the workings of God" (p. 64); like . . . "Out of Your Mercy you mend my ways" (p. 125); like . . . "Things are not always as they seem, And winter always yields to spring" (p. 187). And Wills wrote so beautifully, sharing her heart so powerfully. Many times I just had to stop and linger a bit and gather up my emotions before going on. Her book has made an impression on my heart that will remain. I believe it will do the same for others who read it.

    A Blessing For All

"Every once in a while, God draws the curtain and lets us see. He gives us reminders that though we are tethered to this earth there is another realm of reality just as real. Every once in a while, He lifts the veil. He thins the space between heaven and earth. He lets us experience the thin place. He helps our faith." ~ Margaret Harrell Wills

Pressing Into The Thin Places by Margaret Harrell Wills is a book of reminders, a book of gentle poetry, and a book of personal illustrations that will grip the deepest parts of your being. During those moments when you are alone and feel God is very near, the Celts called it the thin place, we feel as if that which separates heaven and earth has been lifted for a moment. But the author so beautifully illustrates that during those hard times, the times when God seems silent and far away, He is actually very near, guiding us through a situation and increasing our faith, if we will only surrender to Him.

This little book encourages us to press into, not run away from, the thin places. This book is written for people of all backgrounds, the hopeful, the hopeless, the rejoicing, the depressed, the encouraged, the disheartened, those on the mountain top, and those in the valley of life. The chapters are brief and could be read in one sitting as daily devotionals, or shared with those who need encouragement. It has blessed me during a difficult time in my life. I am thankful for the opportunity to read and glean from this author's wisdom.
